Thoughts on Asa?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! Oh, thanks so much! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Asa is one of my favourite names! It’s so simple and cool, and you could even nickname it to [name_m]Ace[/name_m], which I’m sure any boy would love.

It’s a male name to me, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some parents were using it for girls, due to the -a ending. But what is it specifically that bothers you about that? If you’re worried he might have another [name_u]Asa[/name_u] in his class (of either sex), that seems very unlikely given how uncommon it is.

I think [name_u]Asa[/name_u] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] is awesome!

I really like [name_u]Asa[/name_u], particularly on a boy, but I do like it on a girl too. It is actually a fully unisex name though, the feminine version comes from Åsa, which is Swedish/Norwegian. That may or may not put you off, but when it’s used on a girl, it’s not actually a ‘boys name on a girl’ (which admittely annoys me too).

I do however think in [name_f]English[/name_f] speaking countries it is mainly a boys name, and is largely considered a boy’s name.
