🦢 thoughts on athena?

I have been sorting and second-guessing a lot of names in my list lately, which accounts for the numerous topics that you see me creating (apologies for flooding the forum!).

Athena’s no stranger to it. She’s my favourite girl name and is prone to being mused upon. I have been thinking of what the general consensus regarding her is. It ranks #78 in the US and #185 in [name_f]England[/name_f], so it is quite popular, not that it dissuades me even a bit. She appears in Homer’s The Iliad & [name_m]Odyssey[/name_m], thereby giving it its literary credit. She is also present in plays by Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides.

Some say it’s a classic while for others it’s modern and unique. I don’t know what it is and I am getting conflicting opinions everywhere. So, Berries, what do you think of [name_f]Athena[/name_f]? Please share any and every thought you have about her! Thank you.

With love,
[name_f]Scarlet[/name_f]

I adore Athena! Such a cool name with a cool sound and a rich history. I know a kindergarten age Atheena who made me love it! Honestly idk why it’s not on my list already, I’m adding it now!

Also, I had no idea Athena was that popular! I would’ve guessed late 200s at most! I’m happy that other people are loving it too! Surprisingly, I don’t see it so much here on NB!

I know someone who used it! It’s a solid choice evoking both beauteous and intelligent vibes although I wouldn’t personally use it.

I love [name_f]Athena[/name_f]! The Greek literary connection is awesome, and it also gives me strong, powerful type vibes. I also like the meaning of [name_f]Athena[/name_f]. [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] is her [name_m]Roman[/name_m] counterpart, in case you’re interested . overall, love the name.

I love [name_f]Athena[/name_f]! It’s beautiful, powerful and elegant -and quite obviously strongly associated with the goddess. I knew two little girls named [name_f]Athena[/name_f], it’s definitely not unheard of but I wouldn’t consider it popular. It’s still definitely a stand out name.

I like [name_f]Athena[/name_f] (and I also like the similar Anthea).

It feels grand and mysterious, but very accessible. I like that it’s place name-y, but not as obvious as [name_m]Athens[/name_m].

[name_f]Athena[/name_f] is very strong and elegant though I personally wouldn’t use it. I don’t know anyone named [name_f]Athena[/name_f] so not very popular around me! it is definitely not in the top 100 in my country and it would probably be further down the hundreds to be honest. It is pretty though :ribbon:

I’d loved [name_f]Athena[/name_f] my whole life, felt like a lovely name with a great meaning. And then when actually expecting and discussing names with some friends they said that it was pretty ā€œout thereā€ and equivalent to naming a son ā€˜Zeus’. Which kinda put me off?

But I’ve since met a little [name_f]Athena[/name_f], and she suited it fine.

I think [name_f]Athena[/name_f] is pretty much perfect. There’s strength, beauty, the soft Ath- sound balanced with the sturdy substance of -ena. I get a really down to earth, sure, certain, confident vibe from [name_f]Athena[/name_f]. It feels ancient and well established due to the goddess/mythology connection, but it has a sleek, modern feel to it. I think that makes it familiar and timeless, as it’s easy to imagine on a modern girl and woman.

I love [name_f]Athena[/name_f]. It was my very first ā€œname loveā€. [name_f]My[/name_f] style has changed a bit and that, coupled with its recent rise in popularity, has eroded some of the infatuation a bit, but it remains a steadfast contender near the top of my list even after all this time. It is reminiscent of beauty, brains, and strength. It is really just gorgeous to say but has sturdiness behind it at the same time and isn’t super frilly.

I love Athena’s connection with mythology, literature, geography (Athens) and history. [name_f]Athena[/name_f] is the goddess of wisdom, craft, and warfare. I associate the name with strong, independent, intelligent and brave women.
I never met anyone with this name. To me, it sounds youthful, surprising and sophisticated.
