I say it a-[name_f]ZEE[/name_f]-lee-a, but it looks like a-ZAL-ee-a…which way is correct? And WDYT?
A-Zayl-yah is your second pronunciation A-zall-ee-ah. I’m say everything quite lazily since I’m Australian when I try to say it, it comes out as A-zay-lee-ah
[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-zay-lee-ah
I say it like A-zale-yah. I love it if it’s with that pronunciation.
uh-zay-lee-uh… but more like uh-zayl-yuh.
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f] is pretty.
I’m in Australia and say
ah-zay-lee-uh.
It’s such a pretty name
I am in the southeastern US and everyone says Uh-zail-yuh here. It is not a terribly common name, but there are azaleas everywhere, so it comes up a lot. I love it as a name!
For some reason I pronounce the flower ‘’[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-[name_f]ZEE[/name_f]-lee-yah’’ but as a name ‘’[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-ZAY-lee-ah’’ (as in [name_m]Iggy[/name_m] [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]; I guess that’s why…)
[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-zay-lee-ah
Thanks, everyone! I like it better with that pronunciation, anyway.
I love [name_f]Azalea[/name_f], and I pronounce it A-zay-lee-uh; it’s such a beautiful name!
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]! It’s a guilty pleasure of mine. I pronounce it [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-zay-lee-uh
I love [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] and would happily use it if OH hadn’t vetoed it! I pronounce it ah-zay-lee-ah
[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-zay-lee-ah
ah-ZAIL-yah/ah-ZAIL-ee-ah, like the flower. I find it so unusual and beautiful (and sort of exotic!). I doubt I would use it, but I would be tickled pink to meet a little [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]!
I love the name [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] mom is a huge gardening nut and we have a colossal azalea hedge in our yard that blooms into a rainbow in [name_u]June[/name_u]. I’m 99% sure the correct pronunciation is with the long A sound, not the E sound.
In my accent it comes out “ah-[name_m]ZALE[/name_m]-ee-yah.”
