Thoughts on Bethia šŸŒ¹

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Berries! The name [name_f]Bethia[/name_f] is a top contender for my future daughter.

I am just curious what impression you have of [name_f]Bethia[/name_f]. How would you pronounce it? What vibe/imagery do you get? What kind of middle name would you pair with it?

Any input would be appreciated! Thanks! :relaxed:

I find [name_f]Bethia[/name_f] not too shabby, but it lacks cuteness or grand prettiness I usually go for. It is elegant in sound. I find it can be daring name to wear.

[name_f]Bethia[/name_f] is pretty. I am PN it like Beh-Thea with 3 syllables, is that how you would say it? I am fond of [name_f]Beth[/name_f] and I love the name [name_f]Thea[/name_f] and it feels like a blend of the two (though Iā€™m wondering if it should be PN Beth-ya - please let me know).

I pronounce it like beh-THEE-uh, like you mentioned. I do like the idea of using [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Beth[/name_f], or even [name_f]Bee[/name_f] as a nn (one of the many reasons I love and am considering using the name). From what I can tell, it can be pronounced both ways. I could be wrong though.

I think itā€™s a totally fine name, I would pronounce it BETH-ee-uh.
For me, the vibe is a bit off, only because I really like the simplicity and non-frillyness of [name_f]Beth[/name_f] but also love the very elegant and grand -ia names such as [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] or [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]. With [name_f]Bethia[/name_f], I get competing vibes because it doesnā€™t really fit either of those categories for me. However, Iā€™m also not familiar with the name and were it as established as [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], maybe it would have a more natural vibe for me.
Still, I think itā€™s totally usable and I really like the nickname Bethie.

I would pronounce it Beth-ee-uh. Never heard of it before, wondering where you got it from??

I think with time, I would come to like it, but itā€™s taking my mind some getting used too.

Bethia is so sweet! I like how unique it is, but it doesnā€™t sound too out there at all.

Instinctively, like BETH-ee-yuh.

I found it months ago whilst going through a list of Hebrew derived names. It is a variation of Bithyah and Bethiah.

I agree it can take a bit to warm up to it. It has familiar sounds, but is different and is not a name you hear often.

Thanks for your comment!

To follow up, knowing itā€™s background and now that Iā€™ve had some time, I do like it! Itā€™s definitely unique, but I donā€™t think that itā€™s one of those names that youā€™d constantly be like ā€œthats so differentā€, like I think her friends would just get used to it and wouldnā€™t think it was weird. I had a friend named ā€œThaliaā€ which is arguably more unique sounding (since [name_f]Beth[/name_f] would be a common route name) but I never thought about it twice.

I do find it slightly clunky to say, and it would probably naturally get shortened to [name_f]Beth[/name_f] or Bethie.
