Thoughts on Bonnie?

So I’m crushing on the name [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] right now.
I have only ever met one [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] and she was in her mid 20s and it really suited her. I think it feels fresh and just lovely to say out loud.
I’d pair it with possible middles names of [name_f]Joy[/name_f] or [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] which are honour names.
What’s your thoughts? Thanks ”

I have a friend named [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] and she makes the name seem fresh and full of life. It fits right in with some of the other popular vintage nicknamey names like [name_f]Winnie[/name_f], [name_u]Penny[/name_u], [name_u]Frankie[/name_u].

It’s not my favorite, but it’s cute. I think [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] would be better than [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_u]Joyce[/name_u], for what it’s worth - [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] and [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] were both very popular in the 1930s-1940s in the U.S., so I would expect a [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] to be about 75 years old.

I really like Bonnie. It has a tragic air for me for some reason but it shouldn’t - probably from Gone with the Wind!

I’d personally pair it with something less cute than Joy or Joyce just because Bonnie is already so, well, bonnie.

I like:

Bonnie Caroline
Bonnie Charlotte
Bonnie Delphine
Bonnie Claudette
Bonnie Catherine

If something short, then a bit more modern and hefty, like Kate.

But given an honour name, could you use a double like Bonnie Caroline Joyce/ Joyce Caroline?

If that’s just not a go-er, I’d use Joyce as Joy seems a bit redundant after Bonnie given their overlapping meanings.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] a head’s up, [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]'s initials would spell BJ. (A friend of mine’s parents learnt this the hard way)

[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] is delightful!

I love [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f], and I think she’s well-due for a revival.

My best friend’s mother is named [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f], so unfortunately for me, I will always associate with an older generation. She’s a very warm and lovely woman, but she is in her sixties, so it’s not quite ready for a comeback in my mind.

I adore [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]!!!

PS I’ve never cared how old or young my friends were, so all this, “I know someone old named this so I wouldn’t use it” is alien to me. Much better the rare [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] on the class roster than the dead in the water name [name_f]Ava[/name_f].
