Thoughts on Calliope!

I was almost sure of the name [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] but then I found [name_f]Calliope[/name_f]! What do you think?

I like [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] more than [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] but [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] has the more intuitive pronunciation. I suppose it depends what you value and your criteria.

I like that [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] has a very different sound to the current -ah ending girl names. [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] fits in well with those while still being unusual in and of itself.

I really like [name_f]Calliope[/name_f]! I prefer it to [name_f]Pandora[/name_f], but agree with @emelfem that [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] will probably be easier for people to pronounce. I think both are good choices.

Calliope is a powerful, interesting and magical name! [name_u]Strong[/name_u], unique and gorgeous.

Pandora is more recognizable than [name_f]Calliope[/name_f]. I really love [name_f]Calliope[/name_f], but I’ll admit I had to train myself on how to pronounce it, which I think is a bit hard for some people to do.

I like the nn options for [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] over [name_f]Pandora[/name_f]. One of my favorite actresses named her daughter [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] better than [name_f]Pandora[/name_f], because the connotations behind [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] are either 1) [name_f]Pandora[/name_f]’s Box, 2) a not-great jewelry chain. Plus, [name_f]Callie[/name_f] is a good nickname.

The name [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] is a girl’s name of Greek origin meaning “beautiful voice”. [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] is the name of the muse of epic poetry.

The meaning of [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] is " all gifts ". Greek mythology: the first mortal woman [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] was created beautiful and delightful by the gods, such that every man was attracted to her.
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] is also the famous brand, so most likely people would think of this.

I prefer [name_f]Calliope[/name_f]. Very elegant, unusual, bold, but also sensual.

I really like [name_f]Calliope[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Calliope[/name_f]. You just need to be aware that there seem to be 2 different pronunciations. That wouldn’t worry me too much as I do like both! Kuh-LEE-op-ee and Kuh-LYE-op-ee. The authentic Greek pronunciation is different to both of these, I think, with the emphasis more on third syllable? Please correct me if I’m wrong - I don’t speak Greek.

Both good names, both different feels so it really depends on the vibe you wanna cut.

Calliope is lovely!

I think both are lovely and very spunky!
For the longest of time I could not pronounce [name_f]Calliope[/name_f], but once I could I’m in “awe” of how beautiful it sounds. That is something to consider though, many people might have a hard time with spelling and pronouncing it.

Pandora is also very cool, I could see giving her the nn [name_u]Penny[/name_u]. Though I know most like the nn Panda.

Ottilie comes to mind as a great pairing for potential siblings!

I LOVE CALLIOPE!!

I wrote in all caps to convey my enthusiasm

I like both! They would actually make a fabulous sibling pair, or first/middle.

I like nicknames [name_u]Cal[/name_u] and [name_u]Cali[/name_u], or [name_m]Pan[/name_m]/Panda/Dora

I love the name [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] given how it’s very similar to my name :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: it’s hard to chose between [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] and [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] given they both have their pros and cons but I think if you want a better pronunciation go with maybe [name_f]Callisto[/name_f] or [name_f]Callista[/name_f]? I say that as an alternative I just can’t help but chose [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] in the end, I think [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] is too close to the music app (though every year it’s going out of style and being used less) and has a brand name you get if you name your child [name_u]Bentley[/name_u] or even [name_f]Chanel[/name_f]!
