[name_m]Hi[/name_m] berries! [name_f][/name_f]I have been loving the name [name_m]Camp[/name_m] lately. Although it feels like a somewhat natural [name_f][/name_f] word name, I haven’t seen anything about it on any forums and there is little data about it.
[name_f][/name_f]
So, what are your thoughts on camp, and what could it be a nickname for other than the obvious [name_m]Campbell[/name_m]
I like it! But I have been into these types of names recently, like [name_m]Tag[/name_m] is one of my favorites these days!
[name_f][/name_f]
I really like it as a nn for [name_m]Campbell[/name_m], that seems to work really well! [name_f][/name_f] other ideas…. [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], [name_m]Christopher[/name_m], [name_m]Calloway[/name_m], [name_m]Callahan[/name_m]? Maybe even [name_m]Charles[/name_m]? I think any of those longer C names could work, even though they are a little stretchy…

fwiw I don’t really know the term posted above but I’m really not up to date on pop culture stuff normally. And I’m in the US!
I’m not really digging it because of how wordy it is. I’d think that once it’s paired with a last name, it’s just gonna sound like the name of a camp, not the name of a kid. It could definitely work as a nickname though! I think any “Cam” name could get away with it. So perhaps [name_m]Cameron[/name_m] or [name_m]Camden[/name_m] nn [name_m]Camp[/name_m]!
I actually know a [name_m]Camp[/name_m] in real life (I’m in the southern US) – a teenage boy, whose full name is Campton. It’s not my favorite word name, but I can see the appeal as a nickname. Maybe something with the initials?
[name_m]Camp[/name_m] is interesting—I think more of camping than the term “camp” but can see why it would put others off. [name_f][/name_f] I’ve fond memories of camping with my family growing up so it does have a nostalgic feel to me, but I think it’s definitely better as a nn (Campbell nn [name_m]Camp[/name_m], for example!). [name_f][/name_f] I also know of a YouTube family who has a son called Kemp, maybe that’s a little more usable than [name_m]Camp[/name_m]?
I just think of the slang term to be honest, it’s very commonly used online (and it’s not a trendy fad word that will be forgotten in a year, it’s been around for a while now). It can work as a nickname, but I can’t say that I like it over [name_m]Cam[/name_m] personally.
I’m US based and I think of the slang term as well unfortunately. So for me it wouldn’t be one I’d use. Though I do understand the appeal soundwise
It’s kind of cool in theory, but yes, I would think of the slang [name_f][/name_f]- not in a bad way, but I can imagine some might find it difficult to pull off.
[name_f][/name_f]
Still, 14 boys were given the name in 2023 in the US
I’ve never heard of the slang before, but I don’t like it as a name. I think it could be a cool nickname though- my favorite long forms are [name_f]Campion[/name_f] and [name_m]Caspian[/name_m].
Camping is fun and campy movies are fun but just the plain noun camp[name_f][/name_f] elicits more grim imagery for me honestly.
[name_f][/name_f]
That said I think as a nn it could be cute and [name_m]Campbell[/name_m], Camper (maybe a little out there but aw), [name_m]Camden[/name_m], [name_m]Cameron[/name_m] could all work. I do love [name_m]Cam[/name_m]- names.
i saw this thread and immediately thought of @emeraldsea[name_f][/name_f] and her name taste
[name_f][/name_f]
i think it’s super cool, and gives a rustic and cowboy vibes. i also think it’s a super sweet nickname for campbell, casper, or something like cameron patrick. i do prefer it as a nickname though as i think of school camp with hasn’t always been the greatest experience for me 🫶🏻
thanks for the mention, @melia22[name_f][/name_f] 🫶🏼

my husband adores this name, and so do i. i think it’s right on par with all the fun, one-syllable boy names we all know and love— [name_f][/name_f] rhett, brooks, finn, etc, and feels so fun and rustic!
[name_f][/name_f]
we are considering kampton, “kamp” for a future baby boy, but i love campbell and camper as well. you might also like something like cameron pierce, with “camp” as a nickname.
