Thoughts on Carlisle for a girl?

I’ve heard baby name consultant [name_f]Jenn[/name_f] suggest [name_f]Carlisle[/name_f] for a girl quite a few times, and it’s made me curious! I’m a little unsure because it does feel quite masculine to me, and even as a boy’s name it isn’t particularly popular. I do think [name_f]Carli[/name_f] could make a lovely nickname, though! What does everyone think? Could you see it working for a girl?

Ngl, [name_f]Carlisle[/name_f] is one of those names that when I first heard it, I thought it was a girls name. I think [name_f]Carlisle[/name_f] is really cute on a girl

I like it. It’s different, sharp, fresh and kind of old at the same time. [name_f]Carly[/name_f] / [name_f]Carli[/name_f] / [name_m]Lisle[/name_m] are all really great nickname options too.

I do think [name_f]Carlisle[/name_f] could work for a girl, it’s got a similar [name_m]British[/name_m] surname vibe as names like [name_m]Spencer[/name_m] and [name_m]Bennett[/name_m]. And [name_f]Carli[/name_f], [name_f]Callie[/name_f], or even [name_f]Isla[/name_f] would make suitable nicknames.

I also like the idea of [name_f]Carli[/name_f] as a nickname for a boy [name_f]Carlisle[/name_f] too.

I’ve met one [name_f]Carlisle[/name_f] (well, a [name_f]Carlyle[/name_f]) and she was a woman so that was my first introduction to it!

I think it could work for a girl – it’s got the sounds of [name_f]Carli[/name_f] / [name_m]Carla[/name_m] and of [name_f]Isla[/name_f]

It does feel quite masculine to me too, but it’s nn potential (Carly, [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_m]Ari[/name_m], [name_m]Carla[/name_m]) and the fact that it’s a surname makes it feel quite usable for any gender? It feels a lot like [name_f]Clarke[/name_f] to me in that regard.
