I like names with -er ending and I just fall in love with the nick name [name]Cas[/name] [name]Cass[/name]. BTW I just met a [name]Cashel[/name] a few days ago and can’t get the it out of my head… What do you think of them and which one do you prefer?

It’s the name of one of my book characters. He goes by Cash though, rather than Cass. I like Caspar (preferred spelling) too.
I also really like [name]Cas[/name], [name]Cass[/name], [name]Cash[/name] as well as [name]Cal[/name] for boy nicknames.
[name]Casper[/name] / [name]Caspar[/name] are both really great, strong names.
I love [name]Casper[/name] and [name]Cas[/name]. Someone inevitably brings up the friendly ghost, but he was an adorable character and not a negative association at all.
[name]Casper[/name] is growing on me as the association with the children’s movie has faded. For the nickname [name]Cass[/name] I like [name]Casimir[/name] as well. [name]Cash[/name] and [name]Cashel[/name], not so much.
I think [name]Casper[/name] with the nickname [name]Cas[/name]/[name]Cass[/name] is ok but I prefer [name]Jasper[/name] and the nickname [name]Perry[/name].
ALL I think of when I hear this name is the friendly ghost but I have never heard anybody in real life with that name. I think the character is old enough now that a kid born now wouldn’t have to deal with it especially if he were going by [name]Cass[/name] (which I [name]LOVE[/name]). Additionally I find that people own their names and change other people’s perception of their name and like somebody mentioned above, [name]Casper[/name] was an adorable character with no bad connotations so it wouldn’t be like changing people’s perception of the name [name]Adolf[/name], you know?

[name]Casper[/name] is a top contender - i just keep shying away from it for some reason. It was my grandfather’s name, but i’ve been told he hated it…and it’s a known fact my mom wasn’t a fan when it came to naming her children. perhaps thats my hold up? The casper the friendly ghost thing isn’t really a deal breaker, but i did hear that Netflix will have the rights to show all the cartoons again soon. (we don’t have a tv and netflix is our way of zoning out) i’m not sure if this is the norm for others, but i’m guessing it may become standard in the future ? if you fear that it’ll be back in pop culture for the little ones…it just might. still can’t shake it from my top three though! there’s something really charming and sweet about it.

[name]Casper[/name]'s a great name and honestly, the friendly ghost association doesn’t bother me because really, you can’t get a better association than that. [name]Cass[/name] would be a cute nickname for it.
I don’t like [name]Cashel[/name], it feels made up.
I don’t care for [name]Cashel[/name], personally. I like [name]Dashiell[/name] much more, or even some of the other [name]Cash[/name] names. I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Caspar[/name] (this spelling), though! I keep coming back to it for my own list. I nearly opted for [name]Samuel[/name] [name]Caspar[/name], but I ended up with [name]Samuel[/name] [name]Gaspard[/name] instead. Still love the name, though!
I do think the friendly ghost is still a powerful association but I still really love [name]Casper[/name] and think its a great alternative to the growing popularity of [name]Jasper[/name]. The nn [name]Cass[/name] is very cool.

I think [name]Casper[/name] is adorable – and I would personally never use it – because I can’t get over “The Friendly Ghost” – but I do think that dates me – in more than one way and that others should definitely think of it as viable.
I like so many of the suggestions above. I like [name]Cash[/name] – just as a name – on its own. I agree [name]Cashel[/name] seems a bit invented, and I like much better [name]Caspian[/name] or [name]Jasper[/name]. I think [name]Cass[/name] is just about the cutest nn I can conceive.
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u]'s Secretary of Defense was [name_m]Casper[/name_m] Weinberger, and he went by “[name_m]Cap[/name_m]”–which I think is another cute nn option for [name_m]Casper[/name_m]. This one is on our short list this time around!
