What do you think of the name “[name_f]Celia[/name_f]” with the spanish pronunciation “Sayleeah”? I’m not liking the english pronunciation of this name “Seeleeuh or Seelya” but am kind of liking the spanish pronunciation of it like the Cuban singer “[name_f]Celia[/name_f] [name_u]Cruz[/name_u]”. What do you think of using the spanish pronunciation in an english speaking setting (U.S.A.) Does it sound strange? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like it? (I wouldn’t mind correcting people if I decided I really liked the name) Would love honest opinions please! Thanks!
I like them both! Is there an alternative spelling that would make the pronunciation easier for her if you are not Spanish or in a Spanish speaking area? She will definitely, definitely be correction her name pronunciation her whole life, and spelling it out for people when its spoken. Other than that its a beautiful name either way 
I like both, but I think you would have to make peace with it sometimes being see-lee-a if you went with the name. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if you are okay with correcting people, your little [name_f]Celia[/name_f] may not be, and she will have to do it more often.
I know a Spanish-speaking family whose daughters have names with different Spanish/English pronunciations who use both. So [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], for example, goes by [name_m]Clay[/name_m]-oh with family and other Spanish speakers and Clee-oh with English speakers. I think [name_f]Celia[/name_f] would work very well that way, but you’d have a tough time with say-lee-a.
You are probably right that an alternative spelling might help with confusion on the pronunciation. I wonder if anyone has any good ideas?
