Thoughts on Clara and nickname suggestions?

I’m struggling to find any names that DH likes, but he did show a glimmer of interest in [name]Clara[/name]. I’m not sure if I am convinced, but would be keen to be persuaded…any thoughts??

[name]One[/name] of my hesitations is that I can’t think of any nn, (aside from [name]Clarrie[/name], which makes me think of an old man). I don’t mind nn’s with a bit of a tenuous connection eg [name]Didi[/name] for [name]Astrid[/name].

I love the name [name]Clara[/name]. We’re considering using it for our next child if it’s a girl. I’m not huge on nicknames and if we shorten then name to anything it will probably just be [name]Claire[/name].

With the name [name]Clara[/name] you could use for a nn. [name]Claire[/name], Lare, [name]Lara[/name], [name]Ara[/name], [name]Raz[/name], Laz, [name]Lala[/name], [name]Arie[/name], Cici, [name]Cara[/name]

We have a [name]Clara[/name]. Aside from the nick names above you could also go with initials (if they sound okay) for example, our [name]Clara[/name]'s middle name starts with a J, so we’ve toyed around with nick naming her CJ. It never stuck, but maybe someday.

I think [name]Clara[/name] is just a gorgeous name; it’s been on my “potential future daughter” name list for a long time now. It’s one of those names that ages well, but is just as precious on a 4 month old as a 94 year old. Since it’s so short anyway, I never really thought of any nicknames for it though. That and [name]Viva[/name] pretty much covered any of the ones I could think of.

We are thinking of naming ours [name]Claire[/name]. We would call her ClaireBear as a baby nickname. [name]Claire[/name] most of the time.

My name is [name]Claire[/name]. I went through childhood wishing it was [name]Clara[/name], since I thought it sounded more feminine and more interesting, but now I wouldn’t change it for a thing. I love [name]Claire[/name] because it has no logical nicknames! As for [name]Clara[/name] (which I still think is beautiful!) I think nicknames develop over time and have a lot to do with the personality of the child. I don’t think that they need to be pre-planned, they’re bound to change anyway! Good luck! [name]Clara[/name] is beautiful, you can’t go wrong!

[name]Clara[/name] just doesn’t need a nickname imho:-) It is a GORGEOUS name and shouldn’t be shortened to anything!!

I’m named [name]Clare[/name], and I had one friend who sometimes called me Clarebo, a cousin who sometimes called me [name]Clarey[/name], and my mother occasionally called me [name]Clare[/name] [name]Bear[/name], or “[name]Clare[/name] the Bare-naked Lady”. I really did not like the last one, which she mainly used when I was an infant/toddler, but still popped out of her without warning on occasion. Those nicknames are exceptions, however. For the most part, I have no nickname.

I adore [name]Clara[/name]! It’s a MN on my own list, but I think it’s a stunning FN, too. I think [name]Claire[/name]/[name]Clare[/name] is the obvious nn for it, but I think [name]Ari[/name] would be really cute, too. I guess you could do [name]Lari[/name]/[name]Larry[/name], too… [name]Claire[/name] [name]Bear[/name]/[name]Clara[/name] [name]Bear[/name] is cute, too… or even [name]Clara[/name] Bug.

More compliments for [name]Clara[/name] here. This name is definitely back, but not in excess. I know a 2-year-old [name]Clara[/name] and an infant [name]Claire[/name]. Great nn suggestions above!

Fore [name]Clara[/name], I like [name]Ara[/name], [name]Claire[/name], [name]Lara[/name], [name]Ra[/name]-ra, [name]Arrie[/name], and [name]Clay[/name]. But I really don’t think [name]Clara[/name] needs a nickname, it is so gorgoeus on its own!

[name]Clara[/name] is my list – and it’s one of the few names my DH has shown some interest in, too. I think we would use a “c” mn, too, and call her Ceci, but only has a family nn.

I know a little one-year-old [name]Clara[/name] from my daughter’s play group. I think it’s a very pretty name! Her mom calls her Clarabou, like the animal (caribou) which I think is cute
