Thoughts on Cornelia!

Cornelia has been a favorite of mine for sometime now. I’d love to hear what y’all think about it…do you know any Cornelias?

I’m just collecting names for now but I love the idea of using Nellie as a nickname for Cornelia. Is it too much of a reach? If so, what other names do you like for the nn [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] (other than Helena & Eleanor).

One more thing on Cornelia…I’ve been crushing on a double middle name for it, though I know Cornelia may already be a mouthful. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer Cornelia Jane Frances or Cornelia Frances Jane?

Cornelia is absolutely stunning :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Nell is my favorite nickname for her, so I don’t think Nellie is too much of a stretch at all. So charming. Some more I like are Cora, Coco, Cece, Lia, Coral, Connie, El, and Oro.

I don’t know anyone named Cornelia, but I do have a cousin Cordelia — her nickname is Cory, which I love!

I think Cornelia Frances Jane is sublime. That is an amazing name!! Absolutely love it. Those middles are classic and quick enough that they don’t feel like too much name with long and lofty Cornelia. I also like the flow of them in that order best. :strawberry::ballet_shoes:

I’m personally not a fan, all I can see is :corn:. I think [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] works as a nn! I’m personally not a fan of [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] but my fav names that can get it as a nn would be Nefele or Selene/a. I prefer the flow of [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], I think the doble middle really works

[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] makes sense to me - possibly because Cor-nell-ee-uh rather than cor-nee-lee-uh is my preferred pronunciation. But I think it could still work either way.

[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] is strong, beautiful and powerful. I enjoy it a lot!!

[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is wonderful!

Some other ideas for nn [name_f]Nellie[/name_f]:

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_u]Endellion[/name_u]
Noelle/Noelia/Noella
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
[name_u]Lennon[/name_u]
[name_f]Ellen[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] is a gorgeous name (much underused!) and it makes complete sense as a way to [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

[name_f]My[/name_f] personal favourite FNs for [name_f]Nell[/name_f] nicknames are:
[name_f]Fenella[/name_f]
[name_u]Endellion[/name_u] / [name_f]Endelienta[/name_f]
[name_f]Petronilla[/name_f]
[name_f]Ornella[/name_f]
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
[name_f]Arianell[/name_f]

Oh and re: double middles, I’m another vote for [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] :two_hearts:

It’s not my fav. I do love [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] though just as an option!

I like [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f], but vastly prefer [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f].
I would pronounce [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] as Cor-nell-ia, but this pronunciation does give me pause. I think [name_f]Nell[/name_f] works as nickname

I like [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], but my impression is that I already seen this combo before.

In agreement with @snowmaiden !!! :revolving_hearts:

I really like it. It has a brittle, seashell quality. I don’t know any women called [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f], but I do know women called [name_f]Kornelia[/name_f].

I don’t think [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] “Nellie” is stretchy at all.

I prefer to [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] to [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f], but it all depends on the surname.

I don’t love it. The “corn” syllable bothers me. [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is gorgeous!

[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] is very cute! Makes me thinks of [name_u]Anne[/name_u] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables.

i absolutely love cornelia!! my first thought is always cornelia street by taylor swift and if that’s not a positive association i don’t know what is. i prefer cornelia jane frances, though cornelia frances jane is awesome too!

[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] [name_f]Street[/name_f] is actually how I found my love for [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] as a name! I love the association and I’m glad someone else caught it too!

i have a lover poster from the third lover diary (along with the first and third lover diaries) right next to me right now (others are on my desk), i’m a huge swiftie and never would’ve missed that reference (lover might be my fav album, cornelia street being one of my fav songs)

I love [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] (and Cordelia). Reminds me of the [name_u]Anne[/name_u] books.

I taught a lovely young [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] years ago, a fifth grader.

[name_f]Nellie[/name_f] or [name_f]Nell[/name_f] are nice nns.

[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] sounds better.

I’ve never heard it said Cor-nell-ee-uh. Sure not how it spells out.

@Harvest-Endellion pretty sure it’s the [name_m]German[/name_m] or [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] pronunciation  I think I heard the name first in a [name_m]German[/name_m] film at school and that’s the pn that’s stuck with me!

I like [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]! I think the nn [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] makes sense. I don’t any Cornelia’s personally, but I do think of the author [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] Funke. I prefer [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]! [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] would be my pick but [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] works too. I don’t think [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] is much of a stretch at all but names that come to mind when I think of [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] are [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] and [name_f]Fenella[/name_f]. [name_f]Fenella[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] sounds especially lovely to me!
