Thoughts on Deacon?

What do you think of the name [name_m]Deacon[/name_m]?

I like [name_m]Deacon[/name_m], it’s handsome and strong. Not overused. It’s a great name to me.

I personally don’t care for it. I associate it as a title for church leaders.

I like it alright, but in my mind I see it as trying a little too hard to be macho.

I don’t think the title association is negative imo

Very church to me. It would be a little strange to meet someone with that name, personally (and I’m not even religious).

I hear deacon and think of the religious position.

I have a friend whose youngest son is [name_m]Deacon[/name_m] (the older two are [name_m]Fletcher[/name_m] & [name_u]Piper[/name_u]…twins). The nn [name_m]Deke[/name_m] makes me think of the astronaut, [name_m]Donald[/name_m] [name_m]Kent[/name_m] Slayton, one of the original astronauts. There’s also [name_m]David[/name_m] “[name_m]Deacon[/name_m]” [name_m]Jones[/name_m], the football player, “[name_m]Deacon[/name_m] Blues,” the song by Steely [name_m]Dan[/name_m], & a Scottish band named [name_m]Deacon[/name_m] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] after the song. I don’t associate [name_m]Deacon[/name_m] w/the church position at all.

This. In my religion, a [name_m]Deacon[/name_m] is an ordained minister below that of priest.

I am Catholic so it’s really tied to the religious title to me. That being said, I do know of a guy named [name_m]Deacon[/name_m]. It doesn’t offend me or anything, it just seems an odd choice for a name. however, it does definitely fit in with the recent trend of “trade” names ([name_m]Fisher[/name_m], [name_u]Piper[/name_u], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], [name_m]Tanner[/name_m], etc) as well as the -on endings.

I find it unattractive
