Thoughts on DH's "short list"?

[name]Hi[/name] Berries! My husband and I are TTC, and over the weekend I gave him a copy of my “long list” (50 current fav girl’s names) and asked him to circle his Top 5. Here is DH’s ‘short list’:

WDYT of these names?

MN choices: [name]Rosalie[/name] or [name]Rose[/name] (after his ggma), [name]Elizabeth[/name] (after my gma), [name]Cleo[/name], [name]Felicity[/name], [name]Marley[/name], [name]Jayne[/name], [name]Amelia[/name]

Btw, I am all for using 2 middle names, but our LN is pretty long…

LN starts with: “[name]Ben[/name]”, has 4 syllables, and ends with “vich”.

Any suggestions for names we should add to the list? (To give you an idea of our naming style, I posted on the Boy’s Names forum with his Top 6 boys names: [name]Simon[/name], [name]Alden[/name], [name]Jude[/name], [name]Felix[/name], [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Ephraim[/name], with MN choices: [name]Gabriel[/name], [name]Malcolm[/name], [name]Phoenix[/name], [name]John[/name] (his MN), [name]Teague[/name], and [name]William[/name]).

Thanks, everyone!

I actually really like all 5 of his choices! You’re so lucky your partner has great choice!

I’m not sure which my favourites are, maybe [name]Eloise[/name] and [name]Annabel[/name] followed by [name]Celia[/name], but I genuinely love all 5! [name]Eloise[/name], [name]Annabel[/name] and [name]Celia[/name] would make stunning sisters so I think you’re set if you have more children! I like that all 3 have different initials and different ending sounds, but share the subtle “l” sound.

[name]How[/name] about:

[name]Eloise[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name] [name]Cleo[/name] [name]Jayne[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name] [name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name] [name]Marley[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Eliza[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Jayne[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Cleo[/name]
[name]Celia[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Celia[/name] [name]Jayne[/name]
[name]Celia[/name] [name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Celia[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name]

Best of luck!

[name]Celia[/name] - very pretty, and classic. I prefer [name]Cecilia[/name] or [name]Cecily[/name], but with a long last name like yours, syllables are at a premium.
[name]Annabel[/name] - nms. Pretty nonetheless.
[name]Julia[/name] - NMS
[name]Eloise[/name] - NMS. Prefer [name]Elodie[/name].
[name]Ariella[/name] - Too fru-fru for my tastes. I prefer [name]Aurelia[/name].

MN choices:
[name]Rosalie[/name] or [name]Rose[/name] (after his ggma) - I usually don’t agree with naming kids after plants, but this is the one exception. [name]Both[/name] names are beautiful and vintage, and experiencing a revival at the moment (thanks, Twilight!
[name]Elizabeth[/name] (after my gma) - [name]Love[/name] this one. Never goes out of style, and so sophisticated.
[name]Cleo[/name] - [name]Don[/name]'t like this one at all. Honestly, it kinda sounds like a stripper.
[name]Felicity[/name] - Gorgeous.
[name]Marley[/name] - boy’s name, or a dog’s name. Not a girl’s name. I can’t see this working with any of the first name options you listed above.
[name]Jayne[/name] - Fine, but please spell it correctly. The random “y” placement movement is over.
[name]Amelia[/name] - NMS

Other names: [name]Adriana[/name], [name]Lydia[/name], [name]Emily[/name], [name]Victoria[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name], [name]Aurora[/name], [name]Adrienne[/name], [name]Celeste[/name], [name]Juliana[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Noelle[/name], [name]Novella[/name], [name]Naomi[/name]

I love [name]Celia[/name]. It just seems like a very graceful name. I think the nn CeeCee is very cute.

Out of the rest of your list, I really like [name]Eloise[/name] as well.

I love [name]Annabel[/name], [name]Eloise[/name], and [name]Julia[/name] from his top 5.

As for combos, how about:
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Jayne[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Julia[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Julia[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name] [name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]

[name]Julia[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Jane[/name]

I love the name [name]Celia[/name], but it always makes me think of celiac disease. If it weren’t for that, I would definitely consider it for my own kids. I do like lucystone’s suggestion of [name]Cecilia[/name].

I love [name]Julia[/name] as well. I think it is classic and easily pronounced and spelled. I always picture a graceful and poised girl when I hear “[name]Julia[/name].”

The other first names just aren’t my taste, with possibly the exception of [name]Eloise[/name]. This can be hard for some people to spell, though.

The middle names you have selected are pretty good. I love the family names and that even though they’re common and sometimes seen as “fillers,” they have special meaning.

I have an [name]Annabel[/name], so I’m definitely biased. Coincidentally, I also had a gma named [name]Elizabeth[/name], so I vote for [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] all the way! I also adore [name]Eloise[/name], though. It’s an excellent second choice.

I’m not a huge fan of [name]Ariella[/name], but I love all the other choices! I would choose [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Cleo[/name] - I adore [name]Cleo[/name] and I think this would make a beautiful, distinctive choice. Good luck!

I like [name]Celia[/name] [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]

[name]Love[/name] it! We strongly considered [name]Eloise[/name] and [name]Annabel[/name], and either would be nice with [name]Rose[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name].

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Julia[/name] so much. It’s completely out of the question with me since he knew a [name]Julia[/name] he hated… haha But [name]Julia[/name] [name]Rose[/name] gets my vote!

Thanks so much, everyone!! It’s really helpful to see everyone’s suggesions  My favs so far are:

[name]Eloise[/name] [name]Marley[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Celia[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Cleo[/name] -and-
[name]Julia[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Rose[/name]

Lucystone: from your suggestions I really love [name]Lydia[/name] and [name]Genevieve[/name], but they didn’t get love from DH. Also, I agree with you on the “added Y” craze being over, but “[name]Jayne[/name]” would be to honor a close friend who passed.

LoriJohnson: I adore your sibset suggestions of [name]Alden[/name] and [name]Celia[/name], and [name]Simon[/name] and [name]Eloise[/name]. Thanks so much! And [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]George[/name] is adorable. I still can’t quite see [name]Malcolm[/name] as a FN, but it’s growing on me
