Thoughts on Dolores?

[name]Hi[/name],

[name]Just[/name] wanting to hear peoples thoughts on [name]Dolores[/name].

I know the whole Seinfeld episode “Rhymes with a part of the female anatomy” thing, but we live in Australia - where they are pronounced differently.

So besides that, which isn’t relevant to us, what do you think of it? We are actually thinking very seriously about using it.

Hmm. I live in the states and have never fully gotten the rhyming thing anyway, I do not say the part of the anatomy in a way that rhymes with [name]Dolores[/name] either.

What’s your connection to it? While I love nn [name]Lola[/name] and like nn [name]Dolly[/name] and see potential for nn [name]Reese[/name] which is OK, the name itself still feels on the tired side to me. Also, its religious meaning, pains, doesn’t bother me, but I know it bothers some. I will admit that use of it outside of the Catholic tradition or a family tradition is kind of odd to me (but whatever, if I met a little [name]Dolores[/name] I’d get over it quickly). But I have no idea if that all plays differently in Australia?

Ultimately I think it’s useable but it probably won’t get universally great reactions (even aside from the rhyming thing) so be prepared for that. AND I think it’s got some solid nn options : D.

All best!

I had to think for a good five minutes or so to figure out exactly what it rhymed with…and go figure, I’m supposed to be doing a monologue about them!

Honestly, I wouldn’t worry about the rhyme considering how hard I had to think about it. I think a little [name]Dolores[/name] would be adorable to meet, but otherwise, I just can’t see the name being used in a positive manner. There’s Umbridge, [name]Lolita[/name]…
