I recently heard the name [name_m]Edison[/name_m] and I just can’t get it out of my head. I’m not 100% sure about it though for 2 reasons:
- Not a huge fan of [name_m]Ed[/name_m] or [name_m]Eddy[/name_m] as a NN.
- Reminds me of [name_u]Addison[/name_u].
I’d love your honest opinion on the name!
I think [name_m]Edison[/name_m] is alright. Fits in perfectly with the surname for first name trend. Too me, it’s too tied to [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Edison[/name_m] to use (obviously not a bad association but I think using it for a child comes off as a bit pretentious). As for nicknames, I think [name_m]Ed[/name_m] and [name_m]Eddy[/name_m] could be avoided if he is always [name_m]Edison[/name_m]; I can’t think of any other nickname options… I had never thought about it sounding a lot like [name_u]Addison[/name_u] so if you hadn’t mentioned it I don’t think it would’ve occurred to me! Good luck!
I have [name_m]Edison[/name_m] on my list and I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] it but my husband seems unsure, I think for the same reason as you. Probably 60% of our friends have named their daughters [name_u]Addison[/name_u] and he hates following trends or even being close to them. I personally don’t think of [name_u]Addison[/name_u] when I hear [name_m]Edison[/name_m], but that’s me. I think its a strong name and if you never call them by a nick name early on, it most likely won’t stick so I don’t think that’s a problem. I would just go with your gut. If you can’t seem to leave the name and it keeps coming back to you despite the reservations, I would go with it and go with it 110%. [name_u]Love[/name_u] your baby’s name and he will love it too! You can’t go wrong.
[name_m]Edison[/name_m] is cute. [name_u]Addison[/name_u] doesn’t come to mind, but “medicine” does. It’s very cute on a baby and small boy, but hard to picture a teen boy or adult man going by [name_m]Edison[/name_m]. I think it’s nearly a guarantee he’d become [name_m]Ed[/name_m] and [name_m]Eddie[/name_m].
I like [name_m]Edison[/name_m] but wouldn’t use it if you don’t like [name_m]Ed[/name_m] or [name_m]Eddie[/name_m].
I really like [name_m]Edison[/name_m], but I think the nickname of [name_m]Ed[/name_m] or [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] is almost certain to occur at some point
