It suits my style. I adore that it is linked to both butterflies (electra’s tree nymph - idea electra) and the Pleiades star cluster. But I’d never really use it. I’m not sure why, but there seems to be something off about it. I prefer the softer [name_f]Elettra[/name_f], but that is besides the point.
So as the title says, what do you think of [name_f]Electra[/name_f]?
i think electra is really pretty, though i prefer the elektra spelling !! a little more mythos and a little less lightbulb. she’s been on my list for ages, and gives me coppery colour imagery, and am overall vibe kind of like this:
[name_f]Electra[/name_f] is one of my favorite names! I think I would have to be feeling a little bit bold to use it as a first name for a child, but who knows. I love that it has mythological/literary ties - it’s a rare and ancient name but feels modern and recognizable (along the lines of names like [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and Petra). It also lends itself easily to recognizable nicknames like El/Ellie etc. Overall it hits a sweet spot for me as someone who likes unique names, but I see how it would be out of some people’s comfort zones.
I prefer [name_f]Elettra[/name_f], it is [name_f]Electra[/name_f] in my language.
[name_f]Electra[/name_f] feels mouthful for me while [name_f]Elettra[/name_f] is easy to say for me. But it is a spunky, strong name
i looove her !! i prefer the elektra spelling, because it looks less like “electricity”, but i think it’s such a beautiful name. there’s a dark romantic elegance to it, as well as a strong, bold feel, made approachable with the nickname el/ellie
I like [name_f]Electra[/name_f] (and [name_f]Elektra[/name_f] as @rosepip mentioned). It’s spiky, sharp and sassy; there’s something cool and breezy about it, something vibrant blue.
I like [name_f]Electra[/name_f] a lot!! I have [name_f]Elettra[/name_f] on my list, but [name_f]Electra[/name_f] feels very spunky yet still nature-y at the same time.
[name_f]Elektra[/name_f] personally feels a little too harsh for me, I think the round C in [name_f]Electra[/name_f] gives it softness.
Something that may be giving you pause is the concept of the “Electra Complex”? Basically the [name_m]Oedipus[/name_m] Complex, but reverse (daughters and their fathers)
