So i’m new to the forum. My hubby and I are expecting our first baby but we’re struggling to a agree on a baby girl name (we have agreed on our favourite baby boy name but won’t be finding out the gender until he/she is born). We both love [name_f]Elle[/name_f] but finding a middle name to suit is proving difficult. My husbands’ mother lived in [name_f]France[/name_f] and her name is [name_f]Louise[/name_f] so we like [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] [name_f]Nix[/name_f] (although I think it sounds like [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]) and we also like [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Nix[/name_f]. My last concern is with our surname being only one syllable, whether we should give her a longer first name?
[name_f]Elle[/name_f]'s a beautiful name, and I don’t think there’s any issue with your surname being one syllable myself. Out of your middle name combos, I personally think [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Nix[/name_f] works better; as I do agree with you on [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] sounding like ‘[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]’. Both are lovely potential middle names though, and I think the tribute is especially sweet - my own children’s middle name’s come from family members!
However, if you’re considering a longer first name - maybe [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Nix[/name_f] would be a good option, with [name_f]Elle[/name_f] as a nickname? [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] could still incorporate a tribute to your husbands’ mother, and would still allow the name you love?
Other names that can be shortened to [name_f]Elle[/name_f]:
[name_f]Elena[/name_f]/[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]/[name_f]Eleanora[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]/[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]
[name_u]Ellery[/name_u]
[name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f]/[name_f]Danielle[/name_f]/[name_f]Anabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Elliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicia[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
I agree [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] sounds a lot like [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], so I prefer the combo of [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]. I second the idea of [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], or maybe you could even use [name_f]Louise[/name_f] as the first name and have her go by [name_f]Elle[/name_f] (as in the L from [name_f]Louise[/name_f])? [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] could also be an option, as the first and surname are both short I think two middles would sound really nice.
I love the name [name_f]Elle[/name_f]! It’s very pretty and sophisticated. [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] [name_f]Nix[/name_f] is my preferred combo, but if you don’t like how it sounds like [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], you could give her a longer name and call her [name_f]Elle[/name_f] for short. There are some good suggestions above. Otherwise, [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Nix[/name_f] really doesn’t sound all that bad to me, if you end up using just [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and no longer name. Congratulations on your first little angel!
I love [name_f]Elle[/name_f], great choice. I think it works well with your last name. My own personal favorite combo is
[name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Nix[/name_f] sounds spunky and cool - like it could easily be the name of a famous person.
I prefer [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] to [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] because I agree about it sounding like [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]. I do think [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Nix[/name_f] “[name_f]Elle[/name_f]” would be the perfect name for you though!
[name_f]Elle[/name_f] is a lovely name, but the [name_f]Elle[/name_f] I knew as a child always had her name mistaken for [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], so that is something to bear in mind.
