[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like it …? More so for a middle …
I had an acquaintance named [name_u]Ellery[/name_u] for a while. I believe she got a lot of “Celery” comments, unfortunately. It otherwise has a soft cheery flow to it!
I loved it for a long time but they read the celery comment somewhere, which put me off the name. If you can get past the sound association, I think the “Ellarie” spelling helps separate the name from the vegetable a little.
It’s okay. It does make me think of Celery.
Another hand raised…I also think of celery.
I really liked it until I realized it sounded like celery… I like celery but don’t want to name my kid after it.
I think the name is cute, and I don’t mind the [name_u]Ellery[/name_u]/Celery connotation at all.
I really like [name_u]Ellery[/name_u] as a middle name
I don’t think of celery! I like [name_u]Ellery[/name_u] a lot, as well as the Welsh [name_f]Eleri[/name_f] (eh-LEH-ree). It’s smart, snappy and lively.
If the celery thing really puts you off, how about something like [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u], [name_u]Flannery[/name_u], [name_f]Kirrily[/name_f], [name_u]Emory[/name_u] or [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] for something with a similar rhythm, or [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] or Ellender for another unusual, tailored [name_f]El[/name_f]- name?
Celery! I just can’t get passed it.
I wouldn’t have thought of Celery. That wouldn’t bother me.
I think it has a nice sound, I liked the suggestion of Welsh [name_f]Eleri[/name_f]!
Personally I’m not a big fan of [name_f]El[/name_f] names I don’t like nn [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] but that’s personal preference
[name_u]Ever[/name_u] since I first heard this name, it always makes me think of celery. It’s a shame because it’s a very pretty name! I love the flow, but I don’t think I could get past the celery aspect.
Sounds sweet, like [name_f]Eleri[/name_f]. I don’t think the celery association is an issue if used as a middle name. Maybe not as a first name.
“…rhymes with celery” is literally all I can think. Sorry. It also looks incomplete somehow, like it should be an NN or something.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Ellery[/name_u]! Esp. [name_u]Ellery[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. Celery won’t bother her if so she can go by [name_f]Elle[/name_f]!
I think [name_u]Ellery[/name_u] is really pretty! The fact that it rhymes with celery wouldn’t bother me. In fact, until I read it here, I wouldn’t have even considered that. I think as a middle name, it’s lovely! And it falls in line with a lot of the other popular [name_f]El[/name_f]- names that are being used while still feeling kind of fresh or unique. If you didn’t want to use [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], or [name_f]Ella[/name_f], it’s a good way to get that [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] nickname.
