Thoughts on Estelle?

What are your honest opinions on the name Estelle? I’ve always liked the name but have seen lots of people saying it’s plain or an old-lady name (though I do like old-lady names to be fair).

Are there any other similar names that come to mind?

Thank you

I love [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]! I love the sound, the meaning and I partly associate it with the Swedish princess, so it doesn’t feel like an old-lady name at all to me.

If you like the name [name_f]Stella[/name_f], that could be the nickname if you’re worried about it sounding too old. [I don’t think it does, but either way it’s a cute nickname]

I don’t think of it as an old lady name, honestly. I think it’s really chic and feminine, but still tailored. Very starry feeling to me. Similar to [name_f]Esther[/name_f] in my mind, but a little more buttoned up

Definitely has a refined sound.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], like [name_f]Estella[/name_f], and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is not my style. [name_m]Just[/name_m] those little changes change the feel of the name for me!

I love [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]. It was on my list until husband knocked it down. It sounds vintage and feminine without sounding too frilly.

Another name that sounds similar is [name_f]Adele[/name_f].

I will definitely keep [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] on my list - I thought I was the only one who liked it. The only thing I don’t really like about [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] is the lack of nickname options (not keen on Stella) but I love the sound and way it flows.

I’m the same - love [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], [name_f]Estella[/name_f] is okay but [name_f]Stella[/name_f] just isn’t something I’d consider.

Love it !

I like [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] and maybe you would like [name_f]Essie[/name_f] as a nickname.

It is a bit old lady for me. I prefer [name_f]Stella[/name_f] to [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] :woman_shrugging:
