Recently the name [name_u]Fable[/name_u] ([name_f]Faye[/name_f]) has been one that I can’t stop thinking about and I want people’s honest opinion on it.
Am I so in love with this name that I’m overlooking something? Also do you have any middle name suggestions? I like [name_f]Yvaine[/name_f] with it but I am open to alternatives.
I love [name_u]Fable[/name_u]! She’s on my guilty pleasure list, I’m not sure if I have the guts to use it in real life but I’d be willing to consider it as a middle. [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] is my combo but [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Yvaine[/name_f] is pretty too!
It’s a very unorthodox choice and would be too out there for most tastes, but I think it’s great for the right child/family. Working in [name_u]Fable[/name_u]’s favor:
It sounds like a more familiar name ([name_f]Mabel[/name_f]) and lends itself to a wearable nickname ([name_f]Fay[/name_f]) if the child wants something more common
It’s a word name, which makes it easy to spell and pronounce
It’s not a frequently used word, so it’s a bit more wearable than other words with similar meanings (like “book” or “fairy tale”)
I would pair [name_u]Fable[/name_u] with a more traditional and/or popular middle for balance. I’d avoid word names, even traditional ones like [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Grace[/name_f].
Yeah I like it. I love [name_f]Fay[/name_f].
My cousin named her son [name_u]Fable[/name_u]. Her mother was initially not a fan but that didn’t matter in the end.
I like [name_u]Fable[/name_u] as a guilty pleasure. I wouldn’t personally use it as I prefer names with a history and this is more of a modern invention, word turned name. But it’s my favorite word recently turned into a name and I adore [name_f]Fay[/name_f] as a nickname. I certainly support another person using it.
I like middle names with meaning so combos don’t come super naturally to me but off the top of my head:
[name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
[name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Miriam[/name_f]
[name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]
As you may have noticed I like [name_u]Fable[/name_u] with names of literary characters. I like your combo too!!
This is one of those word names that I just did not get when I first saw it on here, but it’s definitely grown on me. [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f], [name_f]Sunday[/name_f], [name_f]Lark[/name_f] and [name_f]Clover[/name_f] are others. They strike me as bright, fun-loving and whimsical. [name_f]Faye[/name_f] is a lovely nickname and a great way to bring it back down to earth and give her options if she wants a more standard/serious name at any point.
I love the idea of [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]! I think you can go a little quirky/storybook in the middle with [name_u]Fable[/name_u], but I’m not sure something as blatantly fairytale as [name_f]Yvaine[/name_f] really works because of the literal meaning and “out there”-ness of [name_u]Fable[/name_u].
I’m not a huge word name fan but I have a soft spot for [name_u]Fable[/name_u] nn [name_f]Fay[/name_f]. It wins me over with its whimsy. I like that it has a familiar nickname so if [name_u]Fable[/name_u] decides [name_u]Fable[/name_u] is a bit too out there, she has [name_f]Fay[/name_f] as a backup.
I love [name_u]Fable[/name_u]! It is a little out there, but I don’t think it’s any stranger than many of today’s popular names, and the meaning is beautiful. Although [name_u]Fable[/name_u] is a modern name, it has an old-fashioned sound to me (a lot like [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] as a previous poster mentioned) which is one reason I love it. [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Yvaine[/name_f] is very fairytale- gorgeous combo!
I love [name_u]Fable[/name_u]! It’s very whimsical and (like a pp said) fairytale-like to me. I’d personally be fine using it as a first or middle name! [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Yvaine[/name_f] is beautiful! I also like the suggestion of [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]. I’ve never had a set combo for [name_u]Fable[/name_u], but what about something like [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f], [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Hermione[/name_f], [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Oriana[/name_f], or [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]?
I think [name_u]Fable[/name_u] is a darling, unexpected name. [name_f]Fay/name_f is also a wonderful nickname. I also adore [name_u]Story[/name_u] as a name, although the intuitive nickname there, [name_f]Tori[/name_f], does not appeal to me nearly as much as [name_f]Fay[/name_f].
I am not entirely sure how to pronounce [name_f]Yvaine[/name_f], but if my guess is right [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Yvaine[/name_f] does sound nice. However, I personally would go with something slightly more intuitive for a middle name for [name_u]Fable[/name_u], because it is somewhat daring. Perhaps [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f], similar to [name_f]Yvaine[/name_f]? Or [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f], [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Elise[/name_f], or [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]?
I love [name_u]Fable[/name_u]! I think it’s one of those rare words that are so name-like that you don’t even think twice about it being too wordish and [name_u]Fable[/name_u] is very similar to [name_f]Mable[/name_f] (which I also love).
Personally, [name_u]Fable[/name_u] is too out-there for me. I generally don’t like words as names and I always end up wondering if a little girl named [name_u]Fable[/name_u] will still love her name when she’s in her 40’s or when she fills out “[name_u]Fable[/name_u] _____” on a job resume or college application. Honestly I like [name_f]Faye[/name_f] better than [name_u]Fable[/name_u].
I love [name_f]Faye[/name_f] as well. I can see a girl with the name [name_u]Fable[/name_u] fitting in with artistic circles quite well. Scientific, not so much…
One is not necessarily better than the other, just something to consider.
I absolutely love [name_u]Fable[/name_u]! It’s probably more of a gp for me, but I’ve always loved [name_u]Fable[/name_u] nn [name_f]Fae[/name_f] ([name_f]Fay[/name_f] & [name_f]Faye[/name_f] are great too, [name_f]Fae[/name_f] is just my preferred spelling!)
I definitely think [name_u]Fable[/name_u] is a usable name, as other posters have said, it’s very similar to [name_f]Mabel[/name_f].
I think it’s unexpected, but it’s beautiful.
[name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Yvaine[/name_f] is a very magical name, I really like it!
