Thoughts on Faulkner?

DH and I are having a terrible time naming boy #3, due in [name_u]January[/name_u]. I like “colonial classics” ([name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]) and he likes “old west mountain man” ([name_m]Bridger[/name_m], [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_m]Colter[/name_m]). But we seem to be finding common ground with occupational names.

What are your thoughts on [name_m]Faulkner[/name_m]?

It’s a little clunky, but is it wearable? Any nicknames I’m missing?

DH and I both went to college in a town with strong ties to [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Faulkner[/name_m], so the name has nostalgia for us. Also DH is an avid outdoorsman so the falconer meaning makes him happy.

Our other two boys are:
[name_m]Jackson[/name_m] [name_m]Fielding[/name_m] ([name_m]Jack[/name_m])
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_u]Everett[/name_u] ([name_u]Charlie[/name_u])

Thanks!

I do think [name_m]Faulkner[/name_m] is a bit clunky, especially as a brother to [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] and [name_m]Charles[/name_m]. In my personal opinion, it isn’t wearable. I think it would make a better middle, as the meaning is nice for your family but I’m just not sure it works as a first; I’m sorry to say!

[name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Faulkner[/name_m] is one of my favorite authors. I like [name_m]Faulkner[/name_m] as a middle name for your son, but [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], and [name_m]Faulkner[/name_m] are kind of jarring together.

I actually like the sound of [name_m]Faulkner[/name_m].

I’d never really considered it before. You could use the nickname [name_m]Fox[/name_m].

I love it for, well, [name_m]Faulkner[/name_m].

Seems perfect for you! I would absolutely go for it. Makes a great brother for [name_m]Charles[/name_m] and [name_m]Jackson[/name_m].

Your naming style is amazing and I love [name_m]Faulkner[/name_m] - it has such a great literary connection and a gorgeous outdoorsy vibe!

It’s very clunky as a first name, but works great as a middle name.

I like it. Different yet special for you, so that is sweet.

I don’t think its wearable, I’m sorry. Perhapas as a middle name, but as a first it’s a definite no from me. It jars with [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] and [name_m]Charles[/name_m]. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]William[/name_m], as you like it and it’s a part of the [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Faulkner[/name_m] connection? Or else:
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u]
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_m]Adam[/name_m]
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_m]Zachary[/name_m]
[name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]

Hey did you see today’s feature story about names that end in r?!

I couldn’t stand the book The Sound and the Fury (sorry, I like punctuation too much), so I wouldn’t name my son [name_m]Faulkner[/name_m]. I also don’t think it goes overly well with the sibset, but it could make a good middle name. Maybe something like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] or [name_m]Gregor[/name_m] would work?

I love your boys names. I’m not a fan of [name_m]Faulkner[/name_m] and think it would be better as a middle name. I feel like there has to be another name you both like that would be a better fit with your other two amazing names!

I don’t think it’s wearable.
