[name_f]Fauna[/name_f] is absolutely beautiful in my opinion and it’s one of my personal favorites. It’s one i’d use in a heartbeat. Personally, I think this is one of those names where, when hearing the name in theory sounds a bit odd or “generic” but actually meeting a little girl with this name would make people fall in love!
What about [name_f]Fawn[/name_f] or [name_f]Fern[/name_f] instead? I like these a lot more than [name_f]Fauna[/name_f]. It’s a little too out-there for me, but I see the appeal for a nature name.
Absolutely love it!
The main reason I’m not considering [name_f]Fern[/name_f] is an arbitrary, personal one – I don’t like the sound of one-syllable first names with our one-syllable last name. Otherwise that’s a lovely name. [name_f]Fawn[/name_f] sounds too weak-kneed and unserious to me (I just picture [name_f]Bambi[/name_f] learning to walk on spindly little legs in the movie), which is a potential issue with [name_f]Fauna[/name_f], too.
The [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Fauna[/name_f] jokes would be inevitable. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it could grow old very quickly.
I love [name_f]Fauna[/name_f]! I know a [name_f]Flora[/name_f], and ever since thought that it would be cool to have siblings named [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Fauna[/name_f]… XD
I don’t think it’s too out there, but if you think it is but like it, you could use it as a middle name. Personally, I think [name_f]Fauna[/name_f] is sweet, pretty and totally usable, but I’m not everyone. The letters and sound roll very well [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. The only issue I see is the possible relation to the word faun, but I only noticed that after a long time and it doesn’t seem like a problem. I would love it if I met a little [name_f]Fauna[/name_f].
Good luck choosing!
I love it! It’s easy to pronounce, accessible, and I’m a little surprised that it hasn’t gained approval like [name_f]Flora[/name_f] or [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] in the states. It’s feminine without being as girly as [name_f]Flora[/name_f], but can still be considered tough with it’s meaning. It should be considered somewhat like a holy grail
I personally do not like it.
I actually love [name_f]Fauna[/name_f]! I think its super pretty. There’s plenty of word names that are being used, I don’t see why [name_f]Fauna[/name_f] would be any different. I’ve never heard anyone use it in conversation anyways! It has a very pretty sound, similar to [name_f]Luna[/name_f], but still unique.
I think it’s beautiful
I think of it as [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Fauna[/name_f], rather than associating it with a fawn. So it instantly conjures scientific discussions of fauna as a group of native animals, which is not a particularly attractive connotation (even though I adore animals!)
It is a scientific term in my opinion
I like [name_f]Fauna[/name_f], much better than [name_f]Fawn[/name_f].
Thanks, everyone! Still torn, but this is very helpful. My sister is a biologist, so I should probably ask whether it would seem completely ridiculous in her field.
My OH and I are both biologists, and we really like it. It’s quite original and I like that it’s the name of a [name_m]Roman[/name_m] goddess.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Fauna[/name_f]! Feminine, nature inspired, and gives me a tranquil and calm feeling. And being an 80’s baby, I love the very subtle Disney connection.
I have [name_f]Fauna[/name_f] on my list and I love it! It sounds enchanting and feminine but somehow seems familiar. I love the melodic tone that it has and it is a ‘dark green’ name to me so seems natural and mysterious.
I also like it. It doesn’t sound too scientific to me. It does make me think of sleeping beauty, which isn’t bad. I like nature names.
As in the bacteria that lives in your gut? No, no, no. If she becomes an MD or an RN she will really hate her name.
