Thoughts on Felice?

I’ve had [name_u]Felice[/name_u] (pronounced like [name_f]Elise[/name_f] with an f) on my list for a while, but as a “middle only” name. And I’ve been mulling over promoting it to a first name too. I like that it sounds gentle and happy, yet bright and chic. And it has cute nickname opportunities! But I wonder if she would never hear the end of “Feliz Navidad”, if it sounds too close to fleece, or if it’s too unfamiliar here in [name_u]America[/name_u]. What do you think about [name_u]Felice[/name_u] as a first name? Should I promote her to my list of first names?

In my country it is gender neutral, more popular for men. I prefer it myself, with the proncunation Feh-LEE-chay. It means “happy” in my language.

It is a good name. I like it!! For girls, [name_u]Felice[/name_u] [name_f]Arianna[/name_f] or [name_u]Felice[/name_u] [name_f]Margot[/name_f]?

feliz navidad was my first thought when i read the title, unfortunately! i’m not sure how much people would comment on it, though. i agree with clem in that i prefer feh-LEE-chay, but elise with an f would probably be the default pronunciation in america.

overall i don’t like it a whole lot. maybe it sounds too incomplete to me? if you like felicity, you could use felicity nn felice!

I love [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], but not for me, if that makes sense? It’s one of my favorite names… for other people.

i personally didn’t think of feliz navidad or fleece! i think it’s usable in america, although something about it has a vague dated feel, i guess maybe because of its similarity to felicia? i also prefer the original pronunciation, and i’m generally not fond of anglicizing pronunciations. not that there’s anything wrong with it, just not my thing! that said i think felice’s nicknames are really cute and it’s definitely an inoffensive name that you could promote to your first names list if you really love it!

I had an aunt named [name_u]Felice[/name_u], and I always thought her name to be pretty. It didn’t make me think of [name_u]Feliz[/name_u] [name_f]Navidad[/name_f].

It’s really nice. it is nimble and cat-like but still pretty

[name_u]Felice[/name_u] is bright, lively and charming. I know about [name_u]Feliz[/name_u] [name_f]Navidad[/name_f] but have never heard it actually said where I am. I’d say try her as a first name, see if you can find a combo and then make a decision

I really like [name_f]Felicia[/name_f] so to me [name_u]Felice[/name_u] sounds like a more tailored, elegant version of that - very pretty :ballet_shoes::cake::dove::tulip::sparkles:

Hmmm I think this could grow on me as I love both [name_f]Elise[/name_f] & [name_f]Faline[/name_f], but it did make me think of “Bye Felicia” and police.

I like [name_f]Felicia[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] much more.
