Especially on the flow. It does have three syllables in [name_m]German[/name_m] and I’m mostly likely going to add another middle name in the future but does [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] flow well enough in English?
And is [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] too “boring” of a middle name next to [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f], [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] or does it stil have that sweet vintage vibe about it when you leave out it’s popularity?
Anything else that [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] makes you think of?
Thank You
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is beautiful! It’s very feminine but not over the top. The flow is perfectly fine in English. In the middle spot I don’t think the popularity matters so much. It definitely fits with [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f], [name_f]Ada[/name_f], and [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]!
I think [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is a stunning combo! I have never seen [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] as being trendy and even if it got to the number one position, I would still use it in a heartbeat. It is so unexpected in the middle spot and really compliments [name_f]Flora[/name_f]!
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] flows well to my ears. I think it is beautiful. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is a spunky, beautiful, and versatile name.
@peach I’m glad that you think the flow works in English and that is fits in with the other middle names
Aw, thank you!
I think [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is quite popular here in Germany, too, but I don’t know any, personally (though I’ve encountered a few Lottas and Lottes). I do think it’s been used well enough for long time to not sound trendy though I do hope that it’s not like [name_f]Rose[/name_f] in the middle spot (a name that I adore as a first name).
Your imagery is lovely, too.
Thanks!
I wasn’t sure how popular [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is as a middle name, if it’s like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or rather something classic but not as overused (in the middle spot) such as [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].
@lovemysweeties Thank you. I always liked the idea of using [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] as a middle name but then I found it rather hard to pair as it has three syllables in [name_m]German[/name_m] and only two in English (and [name_m]French[/name_m]) so sometimes the flow was beautiful in one language and very off in another. So I’m happy that you think [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] flows well in English
The flow is just fine. However, I think [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Genoveva[/name_f] is way more gorgeous. To me, [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is not a pleasant sounding name. I can only think of Harlot whenever I see it. But it works fine with [name_f]Flora[/name_f]…if you don’t mind the repeating Ls. I still think [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Genoveva[/name_f] beats it by a mile.
I adore [name_f]Genoveva[/name_f] BUT the [name_m]German[/name_m] pronunciation bugs me a bit. It seems that it is commonly pronounced gen-o-fe-fa (hard G) and I can’t get behind that. I also always sway between a hard G and a soft G pronunciation, so while I would pick [name_f]Genoveva[/name_f] in a heartbeat if I only had to consider the English pronunciation, I’m trying out [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] as a more suiting-to-my-situation alternative
I love [name_f]Flora[/name_f], and [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] does have a nice flow. I far prefer [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Genoveva[/name_f] though, which I find absolutely breathtaking.
Sorry - I have only just seen your comment regarding the hard and soft G for [name_f]Genoveva[/name_f]. I agree, that only the soft G would make that combo flow so prettily. I can’t help but feel though, given the names in your sig, that something more exciting could follow [name_f]Flora[/name_f]. I’m just not a huge fan of [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], and I don’t really know why.
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is absolutely beautiful!! I have [name_f]Flora[/name_f]/[name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Millie[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] on my own list, but [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] fits really really well!
If I could suggest a combo for a double middle name, [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Millie[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] sounds gorgeous, but [name_f]Millie[/name_f] mightn’t be your thing, I don’t know, I just love how that sounds.*
That’s fine, there are many names that I’m not a huge fan of either; that others might find exciting but I think of as bland.
It’s been really hard finding a middle name for [name_f]Flora[/name_f] as I want the combo to flow and sound well in [name_m]German[/name_m] and English.
I’m actually surprised I didn’t think of [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] as a middle name to [name_f]Flora[/name_f] before, as it is a family name and my mother has mentioned several times, when we talked about names, that she would have loved the name [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] for me, too (as/and it was her grandmother’s name).
It doesn’t flow in Dutch, [name_m]German[/name_m] or English to you?
Floralie is not for me. I like the feminine and slightly frilly vibe of [name_f]Flora[/name_f], while Floralie is a tiny bit too sweet to me, I’m afraid.
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Millie[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is beautiful but I’d feel as if I was stealing your combo
If I come across a second middle name, I’m not searching but if there’s one I come across that I love, I’d totally be willing to put it in between the two names, as you did, to make the combo flow better but I’m glad that you also like [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] on her own!
Never been a big fan of [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], sorry, and I feel like it sort of takes away some of the charm and freshness of [name_f]Flora[/name_f], which feels young and upbeat to me. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] feels more serene and somnolent, and while I normally like it when names are balanced like that, I just feel this one doesn’t work as well. Sorry.
I absolutely adore [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Genoveva[/name_f] (which is stunning), though (which I realise you’re not asking about but thought I’d throw it in there)
