Thoughts on Frank?

[name_m]Frank[/name_m] is my grandfather’s name as well as my mother in law’s maiden name. We had always intended it to be a middle name but cannot agree on any other boys name at all!

On one hand, I love that it honors both of our families and I feel like [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] would be a cute nickname. I like that it’s simple, familiar and easy to spell without being common.

On the other, is [name_m]Frank[/name_m] too… frank?

I’d love to see everyone’s thoughts!

I prefer [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] with the nn [name_m]Frank[/name_m] or [name_u]Frankie[/name_u]. [name_m]Frank[/name_m] doesn’t have a lot of spark to me but that can really change depending on what it’s paired with.

I like [name_m]Frank[/name_m]-- it’s a good, solid, no-frills type of name. I think it’s due for a comeback-- it’s similar to [name_u]Sam[/name_u] and [name_m]Jack[/name_m].

I love it! I love that it’s so meaningful for your family too. [name_m]Frank[/name_m] on its own feels very dependable, honest, and loyal to me. And [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] is adorable.

I honestly love the name [name_m]Frank[/name_m] on it’s own, and think it would make a great first name.

Mmmm…I’m not a fan. It doesn’t feel ready for a comeback yet. To me it’s an old man name.

I’m not a huge fan of the name, I don’t really like how it sounds. I do like [name_m]Franco[/name_m], if that’s a possible alternative.

I do think [name_m]Frank[/name_m] is a little bit old-man and would be a bit odd as a first name - however I do also think that about names like [name_m]George[/name_m], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Eric[/name_m], and so on - and they’ve all made a great comeback.

I really like [name_m]Frank[/name_m], more than [name_m]Franklin[/name_m]. [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] is sweet as a nn.

I adore [name_m]Frank[/name_m] and love [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] even more.

I like [name_m]Frank[/name_m], and I like [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] more.

My grandad is called [name_m]Frank[/name_m] too (his birth name is [name_u]Francis[/name_u] [name_m]Jr[/name_m]. but he solely goes by [name_m]Frank[/name_m]). I think [name_m]Frank[/name_m] works great as a middle name and [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] works fine as a first name.

[name_m]Frank[/name_m] is a great name.

I’m not in favor of using a nn as a fn and [name_m]Frank[/name_m] is a nn for [name_u]Francis[/name_u]. But in this case since it is a family surname, I think that justifies using it… as just plain [name_m]Frank[/name_m]. I hope you have a long last name for balance.
As for coming around again, [name_m]Frank[/name_m] Sinatra would be over 100 years old by now!
[name_u]Francis[/name_u] [name_m]Albert[/name_m] “[name_m]Frank[/name_m]” Sinatra was an American jazz and traditional pop singer, songwriter, actor, producer and director, who was one of the most popular and influential musical artists of the 20th century.
