I’ve always had a soft spot for this name, ever since meeting the little brother of my sister’s friend who at the time was an adorable three year old [name]Gregory[/name]. I think it’s handsome and masculine while also cute, and I like the nn [name]Greg[/name] too.
Realistically, though, is it usable or just dated and one I should keep on my guilty pleasure list?
I love it! I think you’re ahead of the trends. I see [name]Gregory[/name], [name]Jeffrey[/name] and [name]Timothy[/name] making a comeback…as well as [name]Whitney[/name], [name]Chelsea[/name] and [name]Heidi[/name] for girls.
I will chime in with love for [name]Gregory[/name]! Grrreat sound (exactly, @emmabobemma : D), and it makes me think of the dashing [name]Gregory[/name] Peck. [name]Gregory[/name] also happens to sound great with my surname. It’s on my longer list, I just have others I’d rather use more but I do love it and would love to see it used.
I do find [name]Greg[/name] a little dated but not [name]Gregory[/name]! But [name]Greg[/name] still even is not like a particularly bad kind of dated. I’ve seen on these threads [name]Grey[/name] and [name]Rory[/name] proposed as updated nickname options, and I think that’s pretty cool. I also think Grego might work (?).
I’ve always loved the Scottish name [name]Gregor[/name]. You could still use nn [name]Greg[/name], but it has a modern feel to it. [name]Just[/name] a suggestion! [name]Gregory[/name] is also totally usable.
I don’t love [name]Gregory[/name], but I like it. It’s a sturdy, timeless, strong boys’ name. If I’m not mistaken, isn’t there a St. [name]Gregory[/name]? Or a Pope [name]Gregory[/name]? I’m not Catholic so the association doesn’t mean a ton to me, but if I was, I think I’d like the connection.
I don’t love [name]Greg[/name] (that seems dated, personally), but I love the idea of [name]Gregory[/name] nn [name]Rory[/name]! I used that in a story once.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Gregory[/name] … my gut feeling is that it also is going to make a comeback. [name]Even[/name] better than [name]Gregory[/name] is [name]Gregor[/name], in my opinion. [name]Gregor[/name] is probably my #1 name choice, but my husband says absolutely no way! Boooo …
I’m fond of [name]Gregory[/name]. Not nickname-ish, but with the -y name to soften them and keep the three syllables from feeling really heavy. I can picture a [name]Gregory[/name] as any age, and it doesn’t seem to lock into a single personality too much. I also find [name]Greg[/name] a rather relaxed Mid-C nickname, like [name]Cal[/name] or [name]Hank[/name].
I like [name]Zachary[/name] for similar reasons, but not [name]Geoffrey[/name].
I love [name]Gregory[/name], too! He’s one of my latest name crushes. So handsome and distinguished. I was thinking more in the middle spot, since I don’t particularly care for [name]Greg[/name], but the idea of using [name]Rory[/name] for the nickname instead might just help me move it back into first name potential.
I adore [name]Gregory[/name] (especially nn [name]Rory[/name], or [name]Grey[/name], but I don’t mind [name]Greg[/name]). [name]One[/name] of the most useable names around, in my opinion; hits that sweet spot of familiar (with history) but not super popular. I see it as more classic than dated.
