What are your general thoughts on [name_u]Griffin[/name_u]? Associations?

I just read a book with a character called [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] and it brought it to my attention :heart:

[name_u]Griffin[/name_u] is very cool - somewhere between rough-and-tumble and sleek and stylish too. [name_f]My[/name_f] main association I guess is the mythological creature?

[name_m]Fin[/name_m] and [name_m]Griff[/name_m] make cool nicknames

I love Griffin! He’s so spunky and strong. I think my main association is youtubers Matt and Abby Howard’s baby son, along with the mythological creature.

I love [name_u]Griffin[/name_u], it’s such a strong - and as greyblue said - rough and tumble kinda name, it’s very fun and adventurous sounding! And I absolutely adore it with nn [name_u]Finn[/name_u]! [name_f]My[/name_f] main association is also the mythological creature, which just adds to that strong and adventurous vibe.

So so cute. :heart_eyes: I know the absolute sweetest little boy called [name_u]Griffin[/name_u]. He wears it so well. I’ve met two, and they’ve both been delightful! They’re my first associations with the name as a first name—sweet, bright-blonde, smiley little boys.

[name_u]Griffin[/name_u] is a sturdy, exciting name. I think it’s quite pretty in any gender. It’s got a familiar sound but it’s not common—just lovely.

I had a real creep of a HS kid named that so I can’t get beyond that association.

personally it reminds me of family guy lol! but I don’t think that association is too strong. I never thought of [name_m]Fin[/name_m] for [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] but I like it

I don’t really like it that much, nothing wrong with it just not my style. It definitely brings to mind the mythological creature.

Nothing bad comes to mind. Usual comments about the creature and lore. I prefer [name_m]Griffith[/name_m].

I have a [name_u]Griffin[/name_u], so I’m a bit biased. :laughing:

We love the name. It feels strong and distinctive. We call him [name_u]Griffin[/name_u], [name_m]Griffy[/name_m] or [name_m]Griff[/name_m]. [name_f]My[/name_f] BIL calls him Griffindor, so there is that association, but I think it’s kind of adorable. DH really wanted [name_u]Finn[/name_u], but I wasn’t a huge fan of the longer [name_u]Finn[/name_u] names, and wasn’t sure about using it on its own, so [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] was the perfect option for us.
