We both like the name Hart a lot. It’s the first half of a family last name on my husband’s side (Hartman) and my husband’s grandpa went by Hart as a nickname.
I’m wondering if it invites teasing though? How will regular people (not name enthusiasts, haha) react to the name Hart?
Also open to other suggestions. I like Peter and Theodore but our last name is two syllables, ending with -ter so I think names ending in R are probably out.
I like it a lot, but I am a name enthusiast! It’s hard to tell how others would react to it. But I don’t see any real teasing potential. So it sounds like ‘heart’. That’s not really a bad thing.
In general, I think it will be unexpected, but uncommon surname names are not unheard of. I think it’s really sweet as an honor name for your family, which is why I’d encourage you to use it! [name_m]Even[/name_m] if just as a middle name, since there’s always that option, too.
I love [name_m]Hart[/name_m], [name_m]Hartwell[/name_m], [name_m]Branwell[/name_m], [name_m]Bramwell[/name_m], and [name_m]Wolfhart[/name_m]. Great names. Some idiot will always tease about something so I wouldn’t worry about it.
I think [name_m]Hart[/name_m] is really sweet and I’d love to see it used, but as @elanorelle said, I’m a name hobbyist so I’m not a good gauge of how the ‘general public’ would find it
I love [name_m]Hart[/name_m]. Maybe try asking what people think of it on a pregnancy app to get a more general idea of what people will think?
I think it’s so handsome though and I love the family connection it has for you!
I actually prefer the full surname [name_m]Hartman[/name_m] given as a first name. As a full name, it’s very strong and even for someone that is not a name enthusiast, it would likely be clear that it is a family surname. I live in [name_u]South[/name_u] US and many boys are given a family surname as a first name and I always find it incredibly handsome and a name that a boy will be proud to wear as he matures.
[name_m]Hartman[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] ________ is very handsome! I can imagine your husband’s family would be proud and he could have nn [name_m]Hart[/name_m] like his great grandfather.
i think it’s a sweet name! i don’t think that the “heart” association is at all negative, and i definitely prefer Hart on its own to any longer versions of the name. i think it would go really well with a classic middle name!
I really like [name_m]Hart[/name_m]. It’s on my long list alongside, [name_u]Hartley[/name_u] and [name_m]Hartford[/name_m].
I think it’s unique but not odd. And once the baby is born friends and family become used to a name whatever it is and it just becomes the baby/persons name. Plus you have the added bonus of it being an honour name.
Amazing name! I actually have it on my list and never see it on here! Great idea:heartpulse: also Hartley is cute as a full name in my opinion if you wanted to go that route
I [name_u]Love[/name_u], [name_u]Love[/name_u], [name_u]Love[/name_u] this name. I think it is perfect for your family with the connection that you both have to it. I love that it sounds like the word heart and it lends itself to being a modern twist on a male virtue name because of that. I also really like the [name_m]German[/name_m] meaning Hard. To me that gives off vibes of strong, secure, tough, and manly which I think are all things that this world needs more of. The outdoor connection is awesome as well. With names like [name_m]Bear[/name_m], [name_u]Fox[/name_u], Wolf/ [name_m]Wolfe[/name_m], [name_u]Robin[/name_u], Wren/ [name_u]Ren[/name_u], and Lark/ [name_u]Larkin[/name_u] becoming more and more popular why not [name_m]Hart[/name_m]? [name_u]Truly[/name_u] I can find nothing negative about this name. I would use it in a heartbeat. If I were using it I think I would go for the full name [name_m]Hartman[/name_m] with the nn [name_m]Hart[/name_m] as I find that it pairs better with middle names in my opinion. Something like:
[name_m]Hartman[/name_m] [name_m]Abel[/name_m]. [name_m]Hartman[/name_m] [name_m]Ernest[/name_m], [name_m]Hartman[/name_m] [name_m]Frank[/name_m], [name_m]Hartman[/name_m], [name_u]Royal[/name_u] sound so strong, sweet, lovely and masculine to me.
I know a few people who have the word -Hart in their surname, so I’m not really sure if it’s substantial enough as a first name for me personally, but I do think there are some combos that go well with the middle name [name_m]Hart[/name_m]. The name is sweet though.
As far as teasing, it likely won’t be anything extreme but It could be pretty annoying.
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Hart[/name_m] and [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Hart[/name_m] would be beautiful.
[name_m]Hart[/name_m] is a magnificent name! [name_u]Strong[/name_u] yet sweet. It always makes me think about love (heart)
I love that it has a special meaning for you.
