Thoughts on Ivey, Isley

[name_f]Ivey[/name_f] pronounced like [name_u]Ivy[/name_u], and [name_u]Isley[/name_u] pronounced like eyez-lee, not like eye-lee. Same pronunciation as The [name_u]Isley[/name_u] Brothers. Both for a boy.

[name_u]Isley[/name_u] is very cool - sharp and interesting

I like them both! I think [name_u]Isley[/name_u] would get pn ‘izz Lee’ or ‘eye lee’ like [name_f]Isla[/name_f] by a lot of people.

I much prefer [name_u]Ivy[/name_u] (this spelling). [name_u]Isley[/name_u] is nice but I imagine it would get mispronounced a lot.

I don’t really like [name_f]Ivey[/name_f], i much prefer just [name_u]Ivy[/name_u]. [name_u]Isley[/name_u] is really cool, but my first instinct was to pronounce it eye-lee which i think others would too.

I think [name_u]Isley[/name_u] (eyez-lee) is better for a boy but I do think it’ll be a lifetime of corrections (eye-lee more familiar/intuitive) and assumptions about him being female (which shouldn’t matter but sadly it almost certainly will).

[name_f]Ivey[/name_f] has a stronger sound and may be the way to go given the pronunciation issues for [name_u]Isley[/name_u] - but [name_u]Ivy[/name_u] has been such a big girls’ name over the last decade, it’ll again be hard to shift that one.

I wonder if you should go [name_m]Iver[/name_m] nn Ivey; Yves; Ever; [name_u]Indie[/name_u] or [name_u]Mosley[/name_u]. Not sure…maybe you just double down and go [name_u]Isley[/name_u] - esp if you think many people will know the [name_u]Isley[/name_u] Bros around where live - but pick an obvious masc middle. It is a cool name for sure!
