Thoughts on Jarvis?

Hello Berries,

Wanted to get your guys thoughts on Jarvis? What do you think of it? Like it, love it or hate it? It’s my grandpas surname (my moms maiden name) and there is no one to carry on his name. I would really like to use it eventually as either a first or middle. I am having a hard time coming up with combos for it tho, the two I came up with are Lorenzo Jarvis or Jarvis Cristiano. Have any other suggestions?

Oh and can you think of any nicknames? I know it doesn’t need any but I do love nn.

Thanks Berries

As a marvel fan, I immediately thought of Iron [name_m]Man[/name_m]'s computer program J.A.R.V.I.S, which was named after his childhood butler, [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m]. For me, this connection makes it work best in the middle spot.

I agree with the Iron [name_m]Man[/name_m] connection, that was the first thing that came to my mind, but if you love it, use it. And I love the story behind it, as an honor name.

I love the name [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m]. This only nn I can think of are any of the initial nn including J i.e. JJ, JD, EJ, LJ, TJ, JB, CJ, AJ, JC, DJ, KJ, MJ, JP, PJ, JQ, RJ, [name_m]JR[/name_m], SJ, JT, JW, JZ, ZJ

It sounds more natural as a middle or last name

I really like [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m]. It sounds very cool and reminds me of [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] Cocker.
The only nickname I can think of is [name_u]Jay[/name_u] but I am not sure [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] actually needs a nickname as it’s rather short.

I like [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m]. It has a geeky, nerdy feel that I like, probably due to the Iron [name_m]Man[/name_m]/[name_f]Marvel[/name_f] connection, which is also a plus for me. I’m not sure about middles, but [name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m] and [name_m]Christiano[/name_m] to me don’t really fit with [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m]. I do think it works better as a middle (but can see it as a first) and [name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m] [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] flows well, but I more imagine [name_m]Walter[/name_m] or [name_m]Isidore[/name_m] with [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m].

Thanks! That’s exactly why the combos seemed off to me, can’t believe I didn’t notice that myself! I liked the flow but yeah style wise they don’t go. Problem is none of the names I am loving at the moment ([name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m], [name_m]Atlas[/name_m], [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], [name_m]Ares[/name_m]) go with [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m]

I like It. I’m not a superhero fan but it does have an [name_f]Anne[/name_f] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables connection, which I love. Can’t think of any nn. [name_m]How[/name_m] about

[name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]
[name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u]
[name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]
[name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] [name_u]Monroe[/name_u]
[name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] [name_m]Edgar[/name_m]
[name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] [name_m]Johnathan[/name_m]

I too immediately think of the [name_f]Marvel[/name_f] connection, which isn’t at all bad (I love J.A.R.V.I.S. and [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m]). I do agree that [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] works better as a middle, though it could be a first. Looking at your signature, do you like:
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] (not too sure of the flow; [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]?)
[name_u]Ira[/name_u] [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] (I love [name_u]Ira[/name_u] for a boy, actually)
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m]
[name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m]

I am starting to warm up to [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]. I think I would flip it to [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m]. And I totally forgot about [name_u]Monroe[/name_u]! I love [name_u]Monroe[/name_u], especially for a boy, thanks to the tv show Grimm. I really like [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] [name_u]Monroe[/name_u]!

Thanks for the suggestions! I love [name_u]Ira[/name_u]! Idc if it sounds like a little old man name, I just love it. I never thought of pairing it with [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] but I like it! I also like [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m], [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] and [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m].

[name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m] [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] and [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] both sound great. I knew a [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] in HS so I don’t see why it wouldn’t work as a first name.

I love [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m], and was so obsessed with Pulp (frontman [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] cocker) back in the nineties. So to me it is hipster/rocker cool, as I could give a fig about comics. [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] sounds nice. So does [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]. I think a middle name starting with S would pair well, too. [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] or [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] [name_m]Stone[/name_m] maybe?

Oh I like [name_m]Stone[/name_m]! My hubby proposed to me at Freestone park and we got married at Stonebridge, so I always thought that [name_m]Stone[/name_m] would be a cool middle name. But I was worried of it sounding too harsh or too cold??

Not too harsh, I mean, [name_m]Stone[/name_m] [name_m]Phillips[/name_m] comes to mind and his name has never struck me as odd. I think [name_m]Stone[/name_m] can sound rocker, it can sound nature-inspired, or modern. It’s versatile. Plus middle names are a good a place as any for something daring. That it ties into your family history makes it even more meaningful.

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] [name_m]Stone[/name_m]! A name with tons of meaning for you personally and it just sounds so cool!
