Thoughts on Jasper?

I’m trying to look for new names to add to my list because my current boy list is feeling kind of stale and I’m starting to feel unsure about many of them. I’ve always been sort of intrigued by [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] but didn’t have any form of reference except the weird character from Twilight. Is it destined to be a Twilight name?

What kind of boy do you picture with the name [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]? Is the sound of [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] too hokey? What about with sister [name_f]Nora[/name_f]?

[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] makes me think of the beautiful mountain town and national park in the Canadian Rockies or it makes me think of the stone. Those two things would come to mind long before I would ever think of Twilight. I think the Twilight association belongs to a certain demographic, and it is a small subset of people. It’s a gorgeous, outdoorsy and vintage name that is definitely not spoiled by a single contemporary pop culture reference that many people have never heard of.

[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] intrigues me also. I felt neutral about it up until a year or two ago. I do not know anything about Twilight, so do not know that character. I would guess it is not destined to be a Twilight name because the name is too popular to have Twilight be the only main association. I picture a boy/man that knows how to have fun but also knows how to settle down; busy man in suit by day, rolled up jeans/muddy catching frogs with his kids by night.

I think [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] make a really nice sibling set. I actually like the sound and spunk of [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u].

I absolutely love [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], especially with [name_f]Nora[/name_f] as a sister. It’s a very handsome name, one that would age well. As a boy, I see [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] being one of two things: a scruffy haired little guy who’s always up for an adventure or a well-groomed boy from a higher class family who loves to read books.

[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] makes me think of [name_u]Jesse[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] right away, so I’m not a fan. [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] would be a nice alternative.

I love [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]! It sounds so “cool guy.” I went to high school with a boy named [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. He was year or two younger than I and about as country as it gets. That’s not saying much though, as everyone where I live is quite country. There are no bad associations with the name that I can think of (except that Twilight character someone already mentioned, if you’re not into that series.) [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] reminds me more of [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] Johns than [name_u]Jesse[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u].

Ditto to @babymagic, I think of the beautiful town of [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] in the Canadian [name_m]Rocky[/name_m] Mountains. I don’t know anything about Twilight. [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is a great choice [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

Thanks for all the comments so far! It’s making me like it even more. [name_u]James[/name_u]/[name_u]Jameson[/name_u] is non-negotiable as a middle name as it’s got familial significance so even though I liked the sound of [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], it’s not possible.

I love [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. It’s high on my list. I’ve never read/seen Twilight, so that association doesn’t bother me. I just love its meaning. To me it feels versatile/approachable… but with a hint of international flair/romanticism. [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] work, and I think [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is cute. I picture a sweet, rascally little boy.

I love [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]! It’s one of my favorites. I can say, as a teen who read all of the Twilight Books just to see why everyone was crazy about them (they were bad.), the Twilight reference never crosses my mind. I think the Twilight association has faded from most of the names, except for maybe [name_m]Edward[/name_m] and [name_f]Bella[/name_f]. It is cool and vintage and not popular. I actually love the name [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]. I think it is super cute. And it gives the option of the nn JJ!

[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] sounds great! I met a really handsome British man named [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] once, with dark curly hair and a quirky smile, and he made me adore his name even more! It’s very much a cool name without trying too hard. And I like that the middle name has personal significance to you…that adds so much meaning to his name. I have an honor middle name and I love the connection I have to its original bearer.

[name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], by the way, sound like a fantastic, stylish sibset! You definitely know how to name some babies

[name_u]Love[/name_u] jasper, I’ve been intrigued by it recently too. I like that a cool guy would totally own the name [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] yet I could also really see it working on a more quiet or sensitive boy

[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] also sound great together, both hit the right balencd between new and old, trendy and Classic

I think my family would hate it though as in [name_f]England[/name_f] it does have an extremely upper-class image and they would thinks its really pretentious

Its not quite recognised as a quirky vintage name yet so I’m hoping it will get more popular

I used to think it was a girls’ name LOL. I named my twin (girl) dolls [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] when I was in third grade. I don’t even know why, seeing as it doesn’t strike me as particularly feminine. I quickly learned the actual gender of the name, but I didn’t change my doll’s name. I really like the name [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. As you can see, it’s on my boys’ list now, and it’s one of my favorite names!!

[name_f]EDIT[/name_f]: [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is a darling sibset! And for those of you who think of Twilight… Well, I wouldn’t know, would I, because I fell asleep trying to read that darned book! JK. No, I don’t associate the name with Twilight. I think of the stone. I love the stone’s color, and I think it’s cool that boys finally get a gem name LOL.

I think [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] would make great sibling names. I wouldn’t worry about Twilight. All the books and movies are out, and I think Twilight mania has gone down a lot. Besides, [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] was a name long before Twilight was written.

[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is an amazing name! [name_u]James[/name_u] is definitely the perfect middle to ground the name,
Personally i don’t associate it to twilight at all. I live in [name_f]Alberta[/name_f] [name_f]Canada[/name_f] where there is the most gorgeous national park - [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. So i associate the name in a nature way - mountains, cool air, gorgeous scenery.
