Seeking honest thoughts on [name_m]Jules[/name_m] for a girl. I am aware that this is a traditionally masculine name in [name_f]France[/name_f], but we live in the USA.
Siblings are Le0 (b) & N0va (g).
Thank you all!

I’m a bit bias as it’s my name, but I adore it! Such a lovely name that ages well in my opinion. If she would want a more “adult” nickname when she’s older, [name_f]Julie[/name_f] could work. [name_m]Leo[/name_m] , [name_f]Nova[/name_f] and [name_m]Jules[/name_m] would be adorable!
I think it could work as a stand alone name for a girl
I’ve heard of girls being nicknamed [name_m]Jules[/name_m] when their full name is [name_f]Julia[/name_f] / [name_f]Julie[/name_f] / [name_f]Juliana[/name_f] / etc. So it’s not completely unheard of here (I’m in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] for reference)
I think with [name_f]Euphoria[/name_f] also having the character [name_m]Jules[/name_m] be one of the main characters it’s pushed the name more into the light to be seen as a girls name
[name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_f]Nova[/name_f] and [name_m]Jules[/name_m] sound so cute together too! If you love it go for it!
I really like it and think it goes well with your other kids. [name_f]My[/name_f] first exposure to it was as a female character who’s actual full name was [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and my only other association is the author [name_m]Jules[/name_m] [name_m]Verne[/name_m] so it feels solidly gender neutral to me.
I think it’s fine in the U.S. and probably expected to be a girl here. I am crushing on it for a boy, after seeing [name_m]Julian[/name_m] Edelman going by [name_m]Jules[/name_m], it seems like such a fun nn for a boy! But I used to love it for a girl and I don’t think you’d have any problems with it. I would prefer something like [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] nn [name_m]Jules[/name_m] but I think just [name_m]Jules[/name_m] could work too.
Good luck!
[name_m]Jules[/name_m] has charm - its got strength and sweetness
I think [name_m]Jules[/name_m] works as a stand alone girl’s name. I agree your daughter could always go by the nickname [name_f]Julie[/name_f] if she wanted something more feminine.
The other idea is to use [name_m]Jules[/name_m] as a nickname for [name_f]Julia[/name_f] or [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. In this case I prefer [name_f]Julia[/name_f]. Le0, N0va and [name_f]Julia[/name_f] (nn Jules)
One more suggestion is Le0, N0va and [name_f]Juno[/name_f]. I like that all the names are the same style and have the common letter O.
I really like it, completely at odds with my general taste. It’s one of very few if not the only gender neutral name I like for a girl. I find it smart, chic, tailored and slightly gawky / nerdy-cool.
I’ve only met male [name_m]Jules[/name_m] but I love it for any gender.
I personally have [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] “Jules” on my list! I think [name_m]Jules[/name_m] will typically be seen as a girl name in the US, but people would be able to adjust to it being a boy name. The automatic assumption is that it’s a girl name.
As a standalone, it’s still lovely, but I’d personally opt for a long form like [name_f]Juliet[/name_f].
Thank you! I love the name [name_f]Juno[/name_f] as well, but we will probably have at least one more kid, and I feel like if I don’t break the “o” trend with number 3 then I will have to use it for number 4. I’m probably overthinking it though
Thanks for your feedback! I had never thought of the possibility of having Julie/Julia as a nickname for [name_m]Jules[/name_m] (usually it is the other way around!), so I appreciate the originality
I also agree the [name_m]Jules[/name_m] ages very well.
