Thoughts on Layla

What do you think of [name]Layla[/name]? [name]Do[/name] you consider it trendy like [name]Kayleigh[/name], [name]Mackayla[/name], [name]Lillia[/name], [name]Bailee[/name] and [name]Ashlyn[/name]? Too childish perhaps?

I do like [name]Layla[/name], though I prefer [name]Leila[/name] even with possible mispronouciation. I would not put it in the same category with other names you listed.

I’ve been dealing with this same issue lately! I’ve loved the name since I was a girl and always thought I would name a daughter [name]Layla[/name], though I now prefer the more grown up spelling of [name]Leila[/name]. But it is sooooo popular now that I’m afraid of its trendiness. I never thought that would happen. I’ve heard it put in the same category as [name]Kayla[/name], [name]Jayla[/name], etc, but I’ve never considered it that way. I thoughti t was a timeless pick up until recently. I’m truly sad about it, but interested to see what other berries say.

I really like it! It reminds me of flowers and meadows and streams. I actually prefer the [name]Layla[/name] spelling over the [name]Leila[/name] spelling, mainly because my friend has a sister named [name]Leila[/name], but pronounces it LIE-lah.

I love [name]Layla[/name] and it’s beautiful. It’s trendy, but I don’t think that should be issue.

I don’t think of it as trendy, except tangentially as part of the set of double-L names. I think it’s very pretty.

Prefer leila with lee la prounouniation. But layla is cute.

I prefer the Arabic [name]Laila[/name]. I saw it for the first time when reading ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’. I’m not normally into meanings but this one is exceptionally pretty

I love [name]Laila[/name] (this spelling). I think without the y cuts down on the “trendiness” factor.

When I hear [name]Layla[/name] I first think of the old "70’s song. It also has a lot of teasing possibilities “lay” la…

I much prefer [name]Lyla[/name].

I love [name]Layla[/name] and wouldn’t put it in the category of the other names you mentioned. It’s got a long-history. I had a roommate named [name]Layla[/name] and a friend named Lejla (same pronunciation; she was from Bosnia). [name]Both[/name] did, however, get a lot of people singing, “Got me on my knees, [name]Layla[/name]” to them, though I don’t know whether that song will continue to be so well-known.

I think [name]Layla[/name] is cute! Definitely doesn’t fit with the trendy names. I don’t think the name itself seems childish, but maybe the spelling? I like [name]Laila[/name] better. I believe that’s the Arabic spelling? I liked it spelled [name]Leila[/name] until I read A Thousand Splendid Suns, which spells the character’s name [name]Laila[/name].

I love [name]Layla[/name]! It was my top pick at one point but we decided to nix it because my husband’s cousin was going to be named layla and family occasionally still call her that. But it’s beautiful, not trendy like the others you named and not childish in my opinion. I prefer the layla spelling, though laila is pretty if you’re looking for something a bit different.

I think I like the [name]Leila[/name] spelling a bit better.

I think its really pretty, but a little childish. The spelling [name]Leila[/name] would fix that.
I don’t put it into the same category as [name]Kayleigh[/name] …, but I do think the [name]Layla[/name]
spelling is trendy.
