I quite like Lazarus! It’s certainly unique, but the nicknames help ground it. My favourites are Laz or Rus, but others work too, like Russie and Lars. It has a bit of a European, elegant vibe to me. I’d go for a more familiar, shorter middle to help balance out Lazarus’ cool eccentricity.

[name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] is unique, sleek and cool, and has a mischievous flair. I really do like it but would keep it confined to the middle space. If I wanted to have a first name like it I would go with [name_m]Erasmus[/name_m], [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m], or [name_m]Lazlo[/name_m].

I am not the biggest fan of the name but I really like the nn [name_m]Lazlo[/name_m].

I’m neutral on [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m]. I like [name_m]Lars[/name_m] or [name_m]Lazlo[/name_m] as nns. The vibes and placement depend on the combo.

I honestly love [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m]. Hubby briefly had it in our brainstormed list but we took it off due to the “Lazy R Us” in the back of our heads…. But that’s just us overthinking it the way some overthink other names like [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] (I feel yea) Completely usable! I think @auroradawn thought of it at one point recently

I’d personally place as a first and think of a more familiar sounding first. [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], [name_u]Michael[/name_u], [name_u]John[/name_u] (but that’s honestly my usual default way to combo up)

[name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] is a great name! I have friends with a [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m], middle name [name_u]Rex[/name_u]. They call him Laz mostly.

Yes, [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] was on our boy list for my recent pregnancy! It had been on my radar for years (I even suggested it to my parents when my mom was pregnant with my youngest sibling), and I fell in love with it again when a friend brought it up talking boy names for our list. I made a thread here to ask about [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m], and it got a tremendous amount of support, particularly as a brother name for my sons, [name_m]Ransom[/name_m] and [name_m]Tobias[/name_m].
[name_f]My[/name_f] husband didn’t quite get on board; he wasn’t able to imagine himself calling a son [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] in real life. So it drifted towards the bottom of our list, and we ended up with a little girl anyway  But I would love to see [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] used.

Back from the dead. I find Lazarre much more useful.

I mean usable.

[name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] is so cool :blue_heart:

Honestly [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] deserves more attention he’s such a cool biblical name that feels daring, bold and heroic. I think [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] just feels brave and imposing a name that works both in the middle & first name slot just so unexpected and edgy. I like the nicknames [name_m]Lars[/name_m], Rus & [name_f]Zee[/name_f] for [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] but don’t necessarily feel he needs to be shortened.

You’ve had a few ideas for combinations so count any repeats as me being in agreement with the berries

[name_f]My[/name_f] friend named her son this but with the Greek spelling, as he’s half Greek. They call him Laz or Lazzy for short. It’s an endearing little name on a boy! And it’ll age well.

Really strong connection to the biblical [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m]. I don’t know if I like it as a given name…

I am a strong [name_u]Christian[/name_u] so the connection is something that actually draws me too the name. To me the name represents God’s power, that [name_m]Jesus[/name_m] can defeat death and bring new life.

Yes! Agreed! [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] isn’t my personal cup of tea but I tried to get my husband to agree to [name_m]Jairus[/name_m] and he wouldn’t budge. I think the ship has sailed on it making it into our family ever at this point but your reasoning for [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] is spot on :blue_heart:

Personally I think [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] is too flamboyant, it’s quite out there and I have friends that have uncommon names and get embarrassed having to say their names out loud, especially if they are shy. I would put it in a middle spot over a first.

I adore the name [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m], with nn [name_m]Lazlo[/name_m] or just Laz. I find it an uncommon name but not an unfamiliar name. No one should be confused when they hear it because of the connection to the biblical [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] (i think there’s actually two people named lazarus in the bible, the other is a beggar), but the child won’t be [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] C. in his class. If it’s a bit too long for casual back-and-forth, asking to be called [name_m]Lazlo[/name_m] should be no trouble.

If I were to meet a [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m], it would evoke majestic and powerful vibes. It’s not a tender name, but it gives me that combination of elegance and courage that I seek to find in boy names.

Two combos for the name I like are [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] and [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] [name_m]Yves[/name_m].
