[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!
Been rewatching the Sound of [name_f]Music[/name_f] lately, as well as looking into diminutives of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. Today, I remembered [name_f]Liesel[/name_f], and I wanted to know what everyone thought of it!
Also, does it work with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] “Josie”?
Thank you
I love [name_f]Liesel[/name_f]! So sweet, familiar yet uncommon, traditional yet exciting. And I just love the way it sounds.
I’m not sure where you live, but I do think in the US it’s very Sound of [name_f]Music[/name_f]. Which isn’t a bad association, but I have a feeling “Liesel? Like the Sound of Music?” will come up often.
I think it works well with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] ‘Josie’!
I honestly am not all that knowledgeable on Sound of [name_f]Music[/name_f] so all I’m seeing is the word diesel with a L.
I adore [name_f]Liesel[/name_f], I think it’s such a beautiful, sweet and dainty name! It sounds zippy and fun, and comes with very usable nicknames, from [name_f]Liz[/name_f] to [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f] to Zellie. I don’t know much about the Sound of [name_f]Music[/name_f]. I think of the main character from The Book Thief, which although a somewhat heavy association (not negative, just heavy due to the book being about WW2), doesn’t bother me. [name_f]Liesel[/name_f] is a fantastic choice, and it definitely goes well with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] ‘Josie’!
Thank you!
And yes, it is based off the Sound of [name_f]Music[/name_f], as well as a the Book Thief. The sound of music is my favourite movie, so I’m thinking I might want to pay homage to that! And I think it’s really pretty. However, would people automatically assume she’s [name_m]German[/name_m]?
Thank you! I love the book thief, that’s where I heard the name when I was younger. [name_f]Glad[/name_f] to hear it works with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. Not sure if it works as well with my boy choices (no. 1 atm is [name_m]Kevin[/name_m], an honour name), but I really love it and sibsets don’t have to be perfect.
I have a friend named [name_f]Liesl[/name_f]! I think of it as very cool and spunky, like she is. We did call her [name_m]Diesel[/name_m] Truck in schol though
I like [name_f]Liesel[/name_f]! It is very pretty! [name_f]Liesel[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] are great together!
[name_f]Liesel[/name_f] is great!
To me it’s all Sound of [name_f]Music[/name_f], but that’s not a bad thing.
I love [name_f]Liesl[/name_f] Absolutely gorgeous with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], as an [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] diminutive, and on her own! A brilliant name.
I don’t think the average (American) person would. Statespeople aren’t exactly known for our knowledge of name origins, especially as far across the sea as Germany
[name_f]Liesel[/name_f] is so sweet and pretty! It reminds me of both The Sound of [name_f]Music[/name_f] and The Book Thief too
I like it with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] ‘Josie’ - both feel sweet, strong and international
Thank you!
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think, since it started as a diminutive for [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f], that [name_f]Liesel[/name_f] is too nicknamey? I don’t think so but just want to check
I certainly don’t think so either
I think it works very well with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]!
Thanks! I love both of those associations
Actually I think [name_f]Liesl[/name_f] isn’t even a common name in [name_u]Germany[/name_u] anymore lol
I love [name_f]Liesel[/name_f]! It’s one of my favourite [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] diminutives. Such an underused gem.
I’m not gonna assume she’s [name_m]German[/name_m], but I’ll think her parents like the sound of music.
