Thoughts on Lila

Someone suggested [name_f]Lila[/name_f] as a name for one of our twins - we don’t know the sex/sexes - and I really like it BUT

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you wonderful Berries think it will grow up? I can imagine an adult [name_f]May[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] or [name_f]Iris[/name_f] but just am not sure about [name_f]Lila[/name_f]. I’m also concerned she will be called or confused with all the Lilys.

What do you think?

If you like it use it!! I personally am over [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] names (I hear them often where I live) so [name_f]Lila[/name_f] is not for me. I much prefer [name_f]Leila[/name_f].

I think it would work very well. It is not my taste, but I can definitely imagine an adult [name_f]Lila[/name_f] (I know a [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], who goes by [name_f]Lila[/name_f], and it suits her marvellously). I don’t think she will be confused with all the [name_f]Lily[/name_f]'s either- it is quite distinct, with a different image, and there are quite a lot of [name_f]Lila[/name_f]'s.

I think [name_f]Lila[/name_f] is a beautiful feminine name. I think it will age very well.

Oops forgot to add that our little girl is [name_f]Ann[/name_f]@ R0se (we use both.) [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Lila[/name_f] are too much?

I love [name_f]Lila[/name_f]. I think it will age just fine, and I think it is more sophisticated sounding than [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. They may only be one letter off, but since it’s a different vowel sound I don’t think a [name_f]Lila[/name_f] would get lost among the [name_f]Lily[/name_f]'s at all.

Agreed with Emsky about pretty distinct from [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. I think it’s fine with your other daughter’s name, maybe especially with the double barrel. If you have a third daughter, you may or may not find it hard to break the two syllable ends in a pattern. But that’s just a consideration, no huge thing. It’s a lovely name. I have a family member with this name in her 70s, it really does have a history of use and there are women of a variety of ages with it. It’s a pretty name and it ages fine.

Honestly, I’m not fond of [name_f]Lila[/name_f] (and her spelling variations) because I never know how to pronounce it. Everyone seems to pronounce it differently. Lih-luh, Lie-luh, [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-luh…
So it’s difficult for me to visualize.

I’ve never heard [name_f]Lila[/name_f] pronounced any way other than Lie-luh. lih-luh I would think would be spelled [name_f]Lilla[/name_f], and lee-luh spelled [name_f]Lela[/name_f]/[name_f]Leela[/name_f].

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Lila[/name_f] sound great together!

[name_f]Lila[/name_f] is a beautiful name, I’ve met [name_f]Lila[/name_f]'s of all different ages so I can see it growing up well. In fact I think all of your names are great options

I love [name_f]Lila[/name_f]! Its on the top of my list, but I’m actually going to spell it “[name_f]Lilah[/name_f]” to make it a little more unique. I also think it will age well!
