My Dh and I agreed on this final list for our first baby. Can you help us narrow the girls list?
Boys:
[name]Lincoln[/name]
[name]Noam[/name]
Girls:
[name]Maisie[/name](Not sure to use on its own or for [name]Margaret[/name]/[name]Mairead[/name]
[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Emme[/name]
[name]Fiona[/name]
[name]Fiona[/name] is my favorite from your girls’ list. [name]Maisie[/name] is cute for nn, but I don’t like it on its own. [name]Violet[/name] is just kind of “eh” for me, and I’m not a fan of [name]Emme[/name].
My favorites are [name]Lincoln[/name] and [name]Fiona[/name]. I do like [name]Violet[/name] too. [name]Emme[/name] is ok (the pronunciation isn’t obvious, I think that throws me off). [name]Maisie[/name] is too cutesy. As for [name]Noam[/name], it’s not bad, I still prefer [name]Noah[/name] more, and I think he might get mistaken for a [name]Noah[/name] a lot.
I’m sorry but [name]Noah[/name] and [name]Noam[/name] are not the same. Saying [name]Noam[/name] like [name]Noah[/name] with an m is an easy fix for us. [name]Maisie[/name]'s full name would be [name]Mairead[/name].
I absolutely love your boys names as I think you already know from your last post!
It’s really hard to pick a favorite. I love [name]Lincoln[/name] nn [name]Linc[/name] but I actually think I’ll have to go with [name]Noam[/name] as my favorite. Although, it’s a REALLY tough choice!
As for the girls:
[name]Maisie[/name]- Is this pronounced as [name]Macy[/name]? I like it on its own but it’s okay. Nothing special for me.
[name]Violet[/name]: [name]Love[/name] this!
[name]Emme[/name]: Really love this!
[name]Fiona[/name]: Never liked this name. Sounds harsh to me.
So I think [name]Emme[/name] & [name]Noam[/name] are my favorites with [name]Violet[/name] & [name]Lincoln[/name] as VERY close seconds.
I love [name]Noam[/name]! It’s one of my favorite names. For some reason I really dislike [name]Noah[/name] (though I do like [name]Noa[/name] for a girl) but I love [name]Noam[/name]. I think Jenniepea’s right though- there will absolutely be confusion and the popularity of [name]Noah[/name] will make [name]Noam[/name] seem more common. You’ve said that doesn’t bother you, so I think you should go for it anyway, but don’t be surprised!
For girls, [name]Fiona[/name] is my favorite by far. Second choice is [name]Maisie[/name]/[name]Mairead[/name] [name]Maisie[/name] is cute, but I think [name]Mairead[/name] is a bit tricky to pronounce. I don’t care for [name]Emme[/name], which is very close to [name]Emily[/name]/[name]Emma[/name]/[name]Emilia[/name] and not as nice, in my opinion, or [name]Violet[/name], which sounds too close to “violent” for me.
My favorite of your girls names is [name]Maisie[/name] – I adore this name. I like it all on it’s own, but I would most likely choose [name]Mairead[/name] over [name]Margaret[/name] if [name]Maisie[/name] is to be used as a nn.
BTW–love your boy choices, [name]Lincoln[/name] is one of my faves!
Between your two boy names I’d pick [name]Noam[/name], but I still hesitate about the pronunciation. Apparently it’s pronounced like Nome or gnome, which I say now, but I read it as “NO-uhm” for years when I saw Chomsky’s name.
[name]Maisie[/name] is nicknamey to me, but it could work for many variations of [name]Margaret[/name] (as well as [name]Mary[/name]). [name]Margaret[/name] is a good choice because it’s associated with so many other nicknames too. I also like [name]Margery[/name]. [name]Mairead[/name] is okay, but [name]Margaret[/name] and [name]Margery[/name] are more solid names in English [name]IMO[/name].
I love love love [name]Mairead[/name] nickname [name]Maisie[/name]! [name]Mairead[/name] is beautiful, and [name]Maisie[/name] is adorable. So that would be my favorite, but [name]Fiona[/name] is a close second. [name]Noam[/name] is my favorite from the boys list, it sounds very strong, but soft too. What great names you have on your list, couldn’t go wrong.
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Violet[/name]. I think it is easy to spell and pronounce and it isn’t too popular but people are familiar with it. I also think it ages well. I could see it on a person of any age.
