I don’t dislike it, but it’s not my style either. I think the better spelling is Macklin.

I don’t mind it but it has a bit of a made-up feel to it. What about [name_m]MacLean[/name_m] (pronounced Maclane not Macleen)? Out of your spellings I prefer Macklin, Maclin looks like it might be pronounced Mass-lin or [name_m]Mace[/name_m]-lin.

No way! Macklin is my boss’s surname and that’s all I think of when I see the name.

I prefer macklin, but as another person suggested maclean/[name_m]McLean[/name_m] would be really nice too. [name_m]McLain[/name_m] [name_m]Ward[/name_m] is a famous equestrian and really nice guy as well, (the association I’d have with the name).

I like the [name_m]French[/name_m] version–Maqueline.

It makes me think of this guy:http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/bert-macklin. Other than that, it’s ok. I like the nn [name_m]Mack[/name_m]. I love the suggestion of [name_m]MacLean[/name_m], too.

Sorry but I don’t like it at all. Sounds like you couldn’t make a decision between 2 uber popular and trendy names – [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] and [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] – so you smashed them together. What about Sophema?

I am seconding the suggestion of [name_m]MacLean[/name_m] or [name_m]Maclain[/name_m]/[name_m]McLain[/name_m]

Really dislike it. If you like [name_m]Mac[/name_m], how about [name_m]Cormac[/name_m]?

I’m not sure which I prefer. Maclin takes a minute to get used to. It reminds me of [name_m]Madoc[/name_m], where [name_m]Maddox[/name_m] comes from, in that it looks like something is missing at first. But in the end maybe better than the trendier looking spelling?

My first thought was “[name_m]Burt[/name_m] Macklin, FBI!”

I, too, immediately think of [name_m]Burt[/name_m] Macklin from [name_m]Parks[/name_m] & Recreation when I see the name. I do really like the nn [name_m]Mac[/name_m]/[name_m]Mack[/name_m]. I knew a really sweet kid who went by [name_m]Mac[/name_m] (fn [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u], which I’m not wild about) and have liked the nn ever since. I agree with the poster who suggested [name_m]Maclean[/name_m]. Very strong name. [name_u]Max[/name_u] or [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] are along the same lines. Good luck!

PS - of the two spellings, I prefer Macklin. Maclin feels misspelled to me.

[name_u]Max[/name_u]/[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] mentioned above made me think of [name_m]Maksim[/name_m] nn Mak? [name_m]Just[/name_m] another idea…

I started watching [name_m]Parks[/name_m] and Rec about a week after I found this name. I had a good laugh, but it doesn’t ruin it for me.

We are still undecided, but we’re now throwing around the name [name_m]Bronson[/name_m]. I really wanted to stay away from the ultra popular " Br" names. This is so much harder than I ever expected!

[name_m]Bronson[/name_m] is sweet…

[name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] / [name_m]Lochlan[/name_m]

Macklin [name_m]Bronson[/name_m] perhaps? or visa versa?

I actually really like it! Its original and has the cute nickname of [name_m]Mack[/name_m]. I voted for the spelling of Macklin.

The name Macklin is not made up at all…it is a celtic boys name. It is not a girls name or “smashed” together…

[name_m]Even[/name_m] knowing Macklin is a boys name, Macklin sounds a bit feminine to me - and I also think of [name_u]Bert[/name_u] Macklin right away, haha! I agree that Macklin would be the more intuitive spelling of these two, though, and I love [name_m]Mac[/name_m]! While I don’t mind Macklin, I do think [name_m]MacLean[/name_m], MacAdam, or [name_m]McDermott[/name_m] would all be great ways to get to [name_m]Mac[/name_m]!

I think [name_m]Bronson[/name_m] is a really strong option, though! It’s flexible: it could go in a rugged, rough-and-tumble direction or have a preppy, clean vibe.

Since Mc- and -lyn/-lin are such overdone, popular elements of girls’ names right now, Macklin feels very blah to me. I would just name him [name_m]Mac[/name_m] or [name_m]Mack[/name_m]. If [name_m]Jack[/name_m] works…?
