What are your honest thoughts on [name_f]Mahogany[/name_f] as a name?
Honestly, I cannot see this working well. What about [name_u]Aspen[/name_u], [name_u]Oakley[/name_u], [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], [name_u]Sequoia[/name_u]…
I saw this name on a name tag at a grocery store. I thought it was an interesting name, but I’m not a huge fan.
It’s my name, I’m not super in love with it, but I don’t dislike it or anything. I guess it’s just my name, I’ve only gotten positive reactions. But the way people will spell it, it’s amazing, nobody ever gets it right. Guess that wasn’t really helpful, but just my two cents. It’s actually double barreled on my birth certificate M@h0g@ny-Gw#n.
I agree that is definitely an interesting name. I like it, although I’m not sure I would personally consider it. I love the idea of [name_f]May[/name_f] as a nn.
It’s interesting… I suppose it’s no different from [name_u]Oak[/name_u], [name_u]Linden[/name_u] or Wiliow, though the word itself feels much heavier and more “out there”. It’s a shame the stress is on the “hog” syllable, too.
It’s interesting, but I can’t see it working despite similar names being popular. I think it’d be a lovely unexpected middle name. I don’t hate it, but I personally wouldn’t use it. When I first heard my favourite name, [name_f]Antigone[/name_f], [name_f]Mahogany[/name_f] was my first thought.
Not a fan.
I find it really appealing; my only caution is the emphasis on Hog; some unpleasantness could come from that.
Its a little out there, but isn’t too different to some of the other growing names right now
I wouldn’t consider it myself, but I could see it working.
I knew a girl named [name_f]Mahogany[/name_f] at my daycare when I was a toddler. Never seemed weird to me at the time, though definitely a mouthful to say. I used to call her “Hogany” because I couldn’t get out all the syllables. So I definitely think it could work, but you’d need a nickname for when she was little. Reminds me of [name_f]Ebony[/name_f].
My first thought was “No, tacky.” I really apologise if that sounds harsh, but it does sound tacky to me, sorry!
Aye… know a wee lass about 13 years old named [name_f]Mahogany[/name_f], poor thing.
I don’t know where you live but I’m currently living in [name_u]America[/name_u] and she gets teased so much that she’s asked her mother to change her name. She goes by [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] now. She once broke down in my lap and cried for hours telling me how people call her Hog, Ho, Pig, Hogie, Hulk [name_m]Hogan[/name_m], Ma Ho (like My Ho, kids would shout to her in the hallways “what up my ho”
Very nasty teasing potential.
