I’ve been reintroduced to this name recently and I was wondering what all of you thought of it.
I’m not a fan. It is not feminine enough/a little to harsh sounding for my taste. I think of the verb mar, as in to spoil or ruin.
(For full disclosure, I knew a girl in hs named [name]Mara[/name] who was an absolute nightmare/bully, so I may just be biased).
I like it, I know a sweet little [name]Mara[/name]. Simple but lovely name.
I like it, very cute. Slightly prefer just [name]Mary[/name] though.
I love [name]Mara[/name]. I think it is very sweet but also a little spunky. I can see it suiting a little girl and adult. I would also put an adventurous name in the middle. [name]Mara[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name], [name]Mara[/name] [name]Winifred[/name], [name]Mara[/name] [name]Penelope[/name], etc.
To me it doesnt have a nice sound - I just dont really like it.
[name]Mara[/name] is pretty - I’ve known two, and both had red hair, by coincidence. I will say that the first couple of times after meeting the first [name]Mara[/name] I had a hard time remembering her name - was it [name]Lara[/name], [name]Nora[/name], [name]Cora[/name], [name]Maura[/name]??
This name is nice overall, but at the same time, bland and forgettable. It doesn’t feel substantial enough.
I adore [name]Mara[/name] but she needs a really fantastic middle name to make it unforgettable. I’m partial to [name]Mara[/name] [name]Winifred[/name] myself.
For a mn, it would probably something like [name]Lyra[/name], [name]Artemis[/name], [name]Hermione[/name], [name]Calliope[/name]…ancient Greek or quirky literary :).

I also really have found myself thinking of [name]Maren[/name] in the last twenty-four hours. [name]Maren[/name]…[name]Mara[/name], but perhaps with a bit more spunk?

I like [name]Maren[/name]. It’s very pretty, but I don’t know if I like it more than [name]Mara[/name]. I actually also really like [name]Marina[/name], which is in your signature, author :). All are great options! I think I’ll be adding [name]Mara[/name] and possibly [name]Marina[/name] to my list.
[name]Marina[/name]'s great! It’s a Shakespearean name and I know the best girl by this name and I love it because she’s not how I would have pictured a [name]Marina[/name] but it works so well for her.
