Thoughts on Marcella?

So yesterday I posted a thread about the name [name_f]Ascella[/name_f] (save to say, that name will not be used- though I actually found a loophole with Asella which means something completely different…) BUT a lot of you gave me some amazing alternatives and I found that the name [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] calls to me even more.

It means “warlike; young warrior”

I love it, I’m totally into meanings like that. And the nickname options aren’t that bad either:

• [name_u]Mars[/name_u] (my favorite)
• [name_m]Marc[/name_m] (the c pronounced as in celia and not like “mark”)
• [name_u]Mal[/name_u]
• [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]
• [name_f]Ella[/name_f]

PLUS!!- The numerology numbers associated with it are 11, 7, & 22 (11 & 22 both being master numbers) For those of you who are not familiar with name numerology I really recommend checking it out, some might not believe in it but even if you don’t you still might find it interesting.

Anyway, getting off track, what do you think?

I love this name.

I’ve only ever heard it as mar-CHEL-a and not mar-SELL-a, and I’m not sure which one I prefer (until I heard it on someone, I assumed it was said with an S sound and not a CH). I love [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] with CH and then the nickname being [name_f]Marcha[/name_f], or with the S pronunciation and the nickname being [name_f]Marcie[/name_f]. I think it is a really pretty name with good nicknames available and an awesome meaning.

[name_f]Marcella[/name_f] is beautiful and unique, and a great alternative to [name_f]Ascella[/name_f]. I like your nickname ideas, but I would recommended dropping [name_u]Mal[/name_u] (means bad in Spanish and a few other Latin languages) and replacing with [name_u]Mel[/name_u]. Overall, very sweet name with a great meaning!

Oh you have no idea how glad I am to hear you like [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] with the CH pronunciation. I naturally want to pronounce it with the CH rather than SELL. Before I posted this I asked around a bit today and most people here ([name_u]America[/name_u]) said it like /mar-sell-ah/ and that they liked that version better so I started forcing myself to say it that way as well.

But now that I think about it I don’t see why I can’t use the CH pronunciation, I can just correct people.

Also [name_f]Marcha[/name_f] is very, very pretty.

[SIZE=2][name_m]Ah[/name_m] yes, I know- mal (male) also means bad/evil in my native language as well. [/SIZE][/SIZE]I tend to like more dark/macabre names in general so [SIZE=1][SIZE=2]I’m fine with the meaning lol.

I love [name_f]Marcella[/name_f]!

I think [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] is a beautiful name. I pronounce it as [name_f]Mar[/name_f]-sella personally.

It also makes me think of a character from Game of Thrones. Slightly different spelling but pronounced [name_f]Mar[/name_f]-sella on the show So something to be aware of.

I adore this name… it’s outside of the top 1000, but still familiar with lots of both common and uncommon nickname options. I like both pronunciations, but prefer [name_f]Mar[/name_f]-sella. Mari and Cella are both great nicknames.
