Okay, we have a [name_m]Holden[/name_m] [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] , [name_f]Ansley[/name_f] [name_f]Arlene[/name_f] and Hesston [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. If baby is a girl I am loving McCrae. Does it go with my others? Also, we keep the middle name the same initial as the first name so I need a M middle name to go with it. For a boy, I want an H name to go with my boys…totally stuck!
McCrae means “[name_m]SON[/name_m] of grace”. It’d work for a son but not a daughter.
I know a little girl named McKrae. It’s just awful. Where are people getting this idea?
Somehow McCrae reminds me of “crazy”. I think it could work as a middle but not a first.
I opened this post imagining Mccrae on a boy… [name_f]My[/name_f] opinion remains the same.
McCrae was a guy on the last season of Big Brother in the US. I’m not crazy about it, but I think if it were going to be used, it should definitely be used for a boy rather than a girl.
Haha!!! I love all the honest posts!! Thank you! So I guess we will go back to an A name to follow along with my daughter’s name [name_f]Ansley[/name_f]!
I just think of the wonderful baritone [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] McRae, so going back to the A’s is probably a good idea.
Hewes [name_m]Hallam[/name_m] or [name_m]Hallam[/name_m] Hewes. You’ve got this actor thing going with [name_m]Holden[/name_m] ([name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Holden[/name_m]) and Hesston ([name_m]Charlton[/name_m] Heston). Hewes is the middle name of Sir [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] [name_m]Stewart[/name_m]. [name_m]Hallam[/name_m] – if [name_m]Holden[/name_m] is for [name_m]Salinger[/name_m] – was the name of [name_m]Tennyson[/name_m]'s best friend [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Hallam[/name_m] in the poem In Memoriam.
I think McCrae is too surnamey to be used as a first name for a girl, but I could be a cool middle name.
I think [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] McCrae would be cool.
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] McCrae is way way way too close to [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] McCann, [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
McCrae will forever be associated with the adorable slacker from Big Brother for me as well.
Everyone is in agreement that McCrae is awful! We are taking McCrae off the table. It came from Lonesome [name_u]Dove[/name_u], my DH’s favorite movie. We like [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] for a boy and I like [name_m]Haynes[/name_m], but it reminds my husband of underware…this is very hard! I think I want an A name for sure if its a girl. [name_m]Just[/name_m] not [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]!!!
Oh, I like McCrae. I first saw it on the [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Einstein DVD’s. I personally like McKay a little bit better (my friend has a gorgeous daughter named McKay) but I think McCrae is cute.
I’m in middle school, and when most people at school would hear the name, they would hear “cray cray” or “crazy”
[name_f]My[/name_f] high school boyfriend had the middle name McCrae. He didn’t like it because it wasn’t a “real” name. It was his mother’s maiden name.
I’d definitely not use McCrae as a first name and especially not for a girl.
