What do you think about [name_f]Molly[/name_f]? I’m finding myself liking girl names ending in y lately: [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Molly[/name_f]…
Is it too much of a drug reference now? Would it be like naming your kid [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]?
I think that [name_f]Molly[/name_f] is a nice, older name that isn’t too common. I have only met one [name_f]Molly[/name_f] and she would now be in her 20’s. I don’t think that the drug reference ruins the name. [name_f]My[/name_f] first thought when I hear it is the character [name_f]Molly[/name_f] Bloom in [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m]. She has a daughter named [name_f]Milly[/name_f], which I slightly prefer over [name_f]Molly[/name_f]. I also think of the sesame street mail lady.
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] reminds me of Mrs Weasley from the [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] books, and [name_f]Molly[/name_f] from [name_m]Sherlock[/name_m], so I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for [name_f]Molly[/name_f] now. I only remember the drug if someone actually mentions it. I also like [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] btw!
I would only think of the drug if someone mentioned it. [name_f]My[/name_f] first thought is the character of [name_f]Molly[/name_f] the doll from The Big Comfy Couch. I’ve also known more dogs named [name_f]Molly[/name_f] than I care to count. I do also know a [name_f]Molly[/name_f] personally. It is not very common, but a nice name nonetheless. I agree [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] is a nice name as well. Now if someone did name their child [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], I would have to question that decision (at least in my mind, probably not in person).
I only found out about the drug reference in [name_f]Miley[/name_f] [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m]'s we can’t stop.
I love [name_f]Molly[/name_f] but I prefer the [name_f]Mollie[/name_f] spelling. [name_f]Elise[/name_f] and [name_f]Molly[/name_f] sound so good as siblings
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_f]Molly[/name_f], but I do have a few reservations about it.
Maybe I’m wrong about this, but I thought it was hugely popular about 1978 when writer [name_f]Erica[/name_f] Jong used it for her daughter. Maybe, even if true that doesn’t matter? It has been a while.
It is HUGE as a dogs’ name. Again – I am not sure that should matter. If we give up all the names that are popular in the dog world, it would be a sacrifice – [name_u]Sam[/name_u], [name_f]Chloe[/name_f], [name_m]Jake[/name_m], [name_u]Max[/name_u], and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] would a loss from the world of baby names. And so would [name_f]Molly[/name_f].
