Thoughts on name first name Lilibet

hi everyone, interested to hear thoughts on [name]Lilibet[/name] as a first name, nn [name]Betty[/name] or [name]Betsy[/name].
I just love this name and think its really cute and also classy, but am being told about how it came about from toddlers misprouncing [name]Elizabeth[/name], and that its too girly and dolly!
I disagree with this and it seems to me to be an accepted diminutive of [name]Elizabeth[/name].
Am definitely not going to call the baby [name]Elizabeth[/name] as I have a good friend called that and also, it seems to grand and formal to me!
So - what thoughts on [name]Lilibet[/name]?

It sounds like a mix of [name]Lily[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] to me. If you love it, you should go for it. I have never heard of the name before, actually.

I like it. It was the childhood name of [name]Queen[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] II according to nameberry, which is cool
I think it’s pretty and doesn’t sound too much like a nickname and can have nicknames of it’s own – [name]Lil[/name], [name]Lily[/name], [name]Bet[/name], [name]Beth[/name], [name]Betty[/name] – Go for it!

thanks! I like it too.
It was her childhood nickname yes, but it also seems to be an old english diminutive of [name]Elizabeth[/name].
i am wondering if everyone knows abotu the [name]Queen[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] thing though?
I like the fact she can choose to be [name]Lily[/name], [name]Betty[/name] or [name]Bette[/name] when she is older if she doesn’t like [name]Lilibet[/name].

It seems like it is trying too hard to be cute

It does feel like a toddler nickname of [name]Elisabeth[/name] to me, I can’t really imagine an adult [name]Lilibet[/name].

I think it’s pretty

I love Lillibet as a cute name but I would go with Lillibeth as a name and use Lillibet, [name]Bet[/name], [name]Betty[/name], [name]Betsy[/name], [name]Beth[/name], [name]Lil[/name], [name]Lilly[/name] as nicknames I love it though, very sweet

I think [name]Lilibet[/name] is adorable, especially with the nickname [name]Betsy[/name]!
I did know about the [name]Queen[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] thing, but I don’t think many people do so I wouldn’t worry about that too much.

[name]Lovely[/name], I like [name]Lilibet[/name]. It’s cute, but I can’t imagine an adult [name]Lilibet[/name]. What about [name]Lilibeth[/name] or Lilabeth?

I absolutely adore [name]Lilibet[/name]. [name]Lily[/name] names honor my grandmother, so when I was trying to decide which [name]Lily[/name] variant I liked best, I fell hard for [name]Lilibet[/name]–I love how spunky, sweet, and unexpected [name]Lilibet[/name] is, I would absolutely love to meet one. Ultimately I decided it was a bit too much of a GP for me, but I’m sure if I ever have a [name]Liliana[/name] I will call her [name]Lilibet[/name] (especially since her full name would be [name]Liliana[/name] [name]Odette[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]) at times. I just love it. I do prefer [name]Lily[/name] to [name]Betty[/name] and [name]Betsy[/name], but [name]Lilibet[/name] nn [name]Betsy[/name] is undeniably cute.

Good luck!

Totally correct! [name]Princess[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] ([name]Queen[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] II’s sister) couldn’t pronounce [name]Elizabeth[/name]; it came out as [name]Lilibet[/name].

Am I the only one that knows this? Actually, I’d say yes. I’m a bit of a royalist.

Well I’m glad people are liking [name]Lilibet[/name].
Regarding an adult [name]Lilibet[/name], to me its the same as thinking of an adult [name]Maisie[/name] or an adult [name]Kitty[/name] - those are also really little girls names. But once a person has a name its just the name isn’t it?! And as they grow up, you don’t think ‘oh you really shouldn’t be called that’ (or do you?!)
I don’t anyway!

This is true, but yeah, I would still notice it. I probably wouldn’t say something, because that seems a bit rude, but I would notice that it was just [name]Kitty[/name] or [name]Maisie[/name] or [name]Lilibet[/name]. I do think [name]Lilibet[/name] ages a bit better than [name]Kitty[/name] or [name]Maisie[/name], but it’s still a bit cutesy. I’ve heard a lot about discrimination based on names that appear on resumes, have heard personal testimonies and such, and I wouldn’t want to risk my child having to deal with that because I decided to name her [name]Belle[/name]/[name]Bella[/name] over [name]Isabelle[/name], or [name]Lilibet[/name] over [name]Liliana[/name], etc… I think something like [name]Isabelle[/name] or [name]Liliana[/name] just looks better on a resume or wedding announcement, etc., anyway. It’s nice to have something to fall back on, but either way, I’m still a huge proponent of [name]Lilibet[/name], I think it’s lovely.

I think it’s sweet and totally usable.

I really love [name]Lilibet[/name] as a nn for [name]Elisabeth[/name]

I think [name]Lilibet[/name] is adorable. I do agree that its good for a little girl, but not so much an adult. [name]Lilibeth[/name] is an option. Also, you could name her [name]Elizabeth[/name], and just always call her [name]Lilibet[/name] or [name]Betsy[/name]. But, none of this really matters, if you love it, I say go for it!

For me it feels like a nickname. I can handle it but to plan a nickname for it is a bit odd to me…a nickname for a nickname. It’s pretty though.

I like it!!!

I increasingly think I do love it, even though I am planning a nickname for a fullname and a nickname for that nickname!
