It’s my favorite book series and I’ve always found the names fascinating (if not always particularly useable). There’s an actual appendix with pronunciations and how the author named her characters, which is name nerd paradise. I won’t name every character in the series (there are a lot) but I thought I’d list most of the names in the first book and a few standout names from the sequels. Which are useable? Any guilty pleasures? Any just interesting? If you had to name a sibset from these books, what names might you pick?

I have the biggest name crushes on Kiriona and Loveday.
I think Kiriona Rain “Kira” or Kiriona Scout “Kiska” are my favorite combos at the moment, but it’s the name I’m most likely to actually use if I were to choose a name from this series.
I also do have a soft spot for Gideon on a girl (I would call her Indy for short), though that may be just having fallen in love with the character. Nav is also cool and intriguing, maybe as a middle. And I like Jeannemary, Augustine, Anastasia, and Samael.
Harrowhark is a guilty pleasure of mine. She’s often called Harrow in the books, which now sounds like a real name to me even though I am aware it is actually a word with a rather unpleasant meaning. I’m drawn to Valancy but I think it sounds too much like vacancy. Pyrrha is also interesting, but probably not useable on an actual child.

This is also my favorite book series! The names of course just make it even better.
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m] is on my list after falling in love with hearing it used in the books. I also really love [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] on a girl now as well!
Jeannemary is another that really grew on me. I think it would be a cool alternative to [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]!
