I am in love with the name [name_f]Nan[/name_f]. I don’t know why. I am afraid it’s too boring, though. Please let me know what you think about it; HONESTLY. You can be mean.
I love [name_f]Nan[/name_f]. And [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]. And [name_f]Nana[/name_f]. And [name_f]Nina[/name_f]!
I don’t call either of my grandmas ‘[name_f]Nan[/name_f]’, but grandmas are still all I can think of when I hear [name_f]Nan[/name_f]. Quite a nice homely image, but so difficult to imagine on a child; maybe if I met a little [name_f]Nan[/name_f]. Sorry, I’m not a fan of [name_f]Nan[/name_f] (hehe, couldn’t resist).
its reminds me of naan bread and my grandma
I love it! I also like all the names that lead to it, [name_f]Anne[/name_f], [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], [name_f]Dylana[/name_f]… and [name_f]Nanna[/name_f].
The first thing I think of is [name_f]Nan[/name_f] [name_m]Flanagan[/name_m] from [name_u]True[/name_u] Blood. It sounds too nicknamey to me, but it’s a viable name.
I like [name_f]Nan[/name_f], it sounds cosy and homely.
I don’t like it. Almost everyone I know refers to or calls their grandmother as “[name_f]Nan[/name_f]”, so I would think it would be a very odd name for a little girl.
I think it is lovely- familiar, but definitely not common. [name_f]Nana[/name_f] / [name_f]Nanna[/name_f] is lovely too. I don’t think it is boring at all! It is strong and spunky, with a good dose of vintage charm. I can see it on a girl of any age. I think I am falling for it too, to be honest.
Yeah, I think this one depends on where you live. Here, as others have said [name_f]Nan[/name_f]/[name_f]Nanna[/name_f] is synonymous with Grandma so it’s hard for us to shake that association.
It does have an appealing sound though!
Thanks, guys! It might be short for [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], since [name_f]Nan[/name_f] is nickname-y.
I’m not too sure about this, still. Might just go and look for something else…
I think people here call their grandmother’s [name_f]Nan[/name_f] sometimes, too. I don’t, but I know my friend calls hers [name_f]Nana[/name_f], and the other [name_m]Gram[/name_m].
I don’t like it. I call my grandmothers ‘[name_f]Nan[/name_f]’ so it’s bizarre for me.
Not my cup of tea, I call my grandmother [name_f]Nan[/name_f] and [name_f]Nanny[/name_f] so to me it seems weird. Sorry.
However, if you live in a country where [name_f]Nan[/name_f] isn’t used as a term for grandmother then I think you would be fine. I don’t mind it as a nickname for something, such as:
[name_f]Nanette[/name_f]
[name_f]Nancy[/name_f]
[name_f]Nan[/name_f] and along with [name_f]Nanna[/name_f] are nicknames for my daughter [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. Was not planned, but works wonderfully and much better than [name_f]Annie[/name_f]. Because of that I can definitely see it as a name. Everyone I know does not call their Grandma [name_f]Nan[/name_f] or even [name_f]Nanna[/name_f]. It’s Grams, Gramma, and Grammy.
