Thoughts on Noel/Noelle?

I’m due in less than a week and still gathering up our favorite names for baby girl! Our top two have been [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and [name_f]Meg[/name_f], but I have thought of Noel/Noelle recently and think it’s pretty and serene and not very common - all things I like in a name. It’s also my sister’s middle name which made me think of it as an option in the first place.

What are your first impressions when you hear [name_u]Noel[/name_u] (besides Christmas). [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_u]Noel[/name_u] or [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]?

Which is your favorite? [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Meg[/name_f] or [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]?

Thanks!

[name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is pretty, but imho unavoidably festive. [name_f]My[/name_f] only real association is [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] and winter.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite would be short and sparky [name_f]Meg[/name_f]

Congratulations!

Noel/Noelle is a pretty name however she does feel very festive and wintry. I strongly associate the name with [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] and wintertime so for me I would find [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] born outside this season a bit peculiar. Strangely more so than a child called [name_f]April[/name_f] born in [name_u]June[/name_u].

Looking at your final three my favourite is [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]! She’s so sweet, elegant, has this wholesome southern flair, feels relaxed and summery with a range of lovely nicknames. I especially love [name_f]Carrie[/name_f].

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps

[name_u]Noel[/name_u] reminds me of [name_u]Noel[/name_u] Kreiss from final fantasy, pronounced “nohl”

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]! Doesn’t feel too Christmassy at all. Random association that Im sure is not well known but its the name of the girl in the song Teenage Dirtbag. Im considering [name_f]Lillie[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] if we have a girl. We already have an [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] so can’t use it as a first.

I love [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]. (This spelling )

[name_u]Noel[/name_u] is No-l and [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is no-elle

Much prefer [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] over [name_f]Meg[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]

When I see [name_u]Noel[/name_u], I think of the Supervet guy and I’d pronounce [name_u]Noel[/name_u] and [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] differently (noll and no-elle)

I like [name_f]Meg[/name_f] best  followed by [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]

I do think that [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] has a heavy [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] association, so much that when I hear someone with the name of middle name, I assume they were born in [name_u]December[/name_u]. I think it works better as a middle name if used outside of the [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] season though! I do really love the name, and I would totally use it if I had a daughter born in [name_u]December[/name_u].

I think [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is classy and sounds really nice! I think that makes it a nice timeless name

[name_f]Meg[/name_f]!

I will add that I think [name_u]Noel[/name_u] in Spanish is pronounced just like [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] because I know a Hispanic family with a son named [name_u]Noel[/name_u] pronounced the same (and the mom told me that that’s how it is in Spanish). He was born in [name_f]May[/name_f] too, so not associated with [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] as at all! I think that some of how it’s perceived probably has a lot to do with your culture and where you live.

[name_f]My[/name_f] thoughts too:

[name_f]Meg[/name_f], [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] (not [name_u]Noel[/name_u] which is one syllable to me, typically a boys’ name) and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] in third. :cherry_blossom:

[name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is so beautiful. I prefer [name_f]Meg[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].

[name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is first then [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and then [name_f]Meg[/name_f].

I love all of them, but ecspecilly [name_f]Meg[/name_f]. I think that the spelling of [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is prettier, and less common. But be prepared for a lot of people to ask your daughter if she was born on or around [name_u]Christmas[/name_u]. All things considered I think that’s these are three beautiful names!

I like [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] best. But [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] (that spelling only) is a close second.

I’ve always had a soft spot for [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]! (I also pronounce [name_u]Noel[/name_u] as rhyming with mole and see it as the male form of the name.) [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] seems sparkly but gentle, elegant but not at all stuffy.

I love [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and [name_f]Meg[/name_f], too. If I wanted to use [name_f]Meg[/name_f] I’d probably choose [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and use [name_f]Meg[/name_f] as the nickname for maximum versatility.

[name_f]Noelle[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] both sound beautiful to me.
