Thoughts on Polly?

A recent name crush of mine is Polly (I basically grew up on PJ Harvey), Before I make any combos or anything I would love your opinions!

[name_f]Polly[/name_f] is fun, endearing and wholesome. She’s just such a great vintage choice that looks visually attractive and I like the meanings surrounding [name_f]Polly[/name_f] ā€˜drop of the sea’ and ā€˜beloved’ she’s just lovely. [name_f]My[/name_f] friend has a niece with the name [name_f]Polly[/name_f] and my sister has a close friend called [name_f]Polly[/name_f] every time I hear the name being spoken about I smile. I also really like [name_f]Pollyanna[/name_f].

[name_f]Polly[/name_f] is quirky and no nonsense to me - both big positives!

[name_f]Polly[/name_f] is so sweet and charming, full of bounce and charm. It reminds me of [name_f]Villette[/name_f] While it is nickname and cute, I feel like it fits various ages (I’ve encountered a 6 yr old [name_f]Polly[/name_f], a teenaged one and an adult)!

I think it’s lovely! There was a Polly at school and I always thought it was unexpectedly vintage and charming (especially in the 00s haha)

I fit it too cutsie for my style but I can appreciate why others love it and think it works as a full name, not just a nickname.

polly is adorable!

it gives me fairy vibes and it’s just such a whimsical name in general. despite this, i don’t think it would really work as a stand-alone name.

I just love [name_f]Polly[/name_f]! [name_f]Pollyanna[/name_f], [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_u]Pepper[/name_u], [name_u]Shirley[/name_u] [name_u]Temple[/name_u] singing ā€œPolly Wolly Doodleā€, warm, bright, almost cuddly feelings. I see it more as a nn but think it works as a full just as well. I imagine a little girl with just a hint of mischief behind her sweet smile.

Oh, [name_f]Polly[/name_f] is so sweet  it makes me think of old-time farm life. Oh, and yeah, [name_f]Polly[/name_f] Pocket but that’s not really negative.

I feel like this name is mostly forgotten these days.

I’d love to use it myself but DH isn’t a fan.

I love [name_f]Polly[/name_f]! It was what the little 4-year old namenerd inside of me named my preschool imaginary friend. She was named [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Calista[/name_f] [name_f]Amber[/name_f] Anyways, I love [name_f]Polly[/name_f] with or without my weird little association, and I think it should be up for a revival with [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]!

I loooove the name [name_f]Polly[/name_f]! It’s one of the only nickname names on my list without a fling name attached to it. It’s so sweet and jovial, exciting and classic. A lovely alternative to the ever-popular [name_f]Molly[/name_f] or the recently spiking [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Polly[/name_f] is great. :cherry_blossom:

polly is so fun !! cute and a little offbeat, but not silly or frilly. i love polly so much (especially as a nickname for polyhymnia, but i think that might just be a me thing)

Straight up nickname names aren’t my style, [name_f]Polly[/name_f] is adorable/cute, I think of gardens with ponds/lakes. I do also think of a movie ā€œAlong Came Pollyā€ but it’s not a bad association just an association.

[name_f]Polly[/name_f] is fun and sweet! Nms but i think it does work as a stand-alone name

i love polly! it’s totally usable and cute. soooo underrated!

Firstly, gah!! You have a [name_u]Billie[/name_u] pfp🄰

I never really saw the appeal of [name_f]Polly[/name_f] until recently, but she’s definitely growing on me now :bouquet: very sweet and cuddly yet still sophisticated and independent. I would love to meet a young [name_f]Polly[/name_f] irl- def due for a revival!

I love [name_f]Polly[/name_f]! Cute, vintage, and underused. Two of my ancestors were named [name_f]Polly[/name_f], one as
a real name and one short for [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. Could work as a stand alone or short for something like Pauline/Paulette.

I use a [name_f]Polly[/name_f] as a nickname in English-speaking countries (and on here), if I didn’t, it would be on my list because it’s such a lovely name.
I think it’s very warm and approachable, could be either cool or sweet and therefore fits many different personalities.
Personally I’d pair [name_f]Polly[/name_f] with something longer in the middle spot, [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] (with nickname [name_f]Polly[/name_f] Rose), for example.
