Thoughts on R0chester?

R0chester has been growing on me hardcore. With it being handsome on a grown man and cute on a little boy. Has an almost tough guy vibe because of Winchester but it also sounds a bit pretentious, which I love, because it’s a city. Thinking nn [name_m]Rocco[/name_m]. Thoughts?

Also two syllable last name like [name_u]Van[/name_u] Heusen or De [name_u]Winter[/name_u].

Middle name I was think M@ck after my dad’s middle.

I dont mind it, I do think I prefer Winchester or just [name_m]Chester[/name_m]… but [name_m]Rocco[/name_m] is a great nn!

I think it sounds great!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] it.
Classic literature vibe too!

Oh so [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Eyre[/name_f]! I do like it but I would be constantly thinking [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Eyre[/name_f], so if that doesn’t worry you - and people referring to it all the time - then I think it’s fine. I like nn [name_m]Rocco[/name_m] for it too.

Kind of cool -i like the literary vibe and the nn [name_m]Rocco[/name_m] is what sold it for me

I just think of roaches when I hear it, unfortunately.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Rocco[/name_m] though. If he were to go by that all the time then I’d say go for it.

I completely agree with you.

[name_m]How[/name_m] are you all pronouncing this? I’m pronouncing raw-chester, like raw-co ‘[name_m]Rocco[/name_m]’. @araminty @dinosaursroar @flamingo @greyblue @valeria888 @emmievis

Kind of like Roh-chester (Roh as a quite short sound, like in the word [name_m]Roll[/name_m]?)

I’ve considered [name_m]Rochester[/name_m] before as well ([name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Eyre[/name_f] is my favorite novel)!!! I thought I’d use the nickname [name_m]Chess[/name_m] if I ever used it but [name_m]Rocco[/name_m] is great too!

I pronounce the [name_f]Ro[/name_f]- in [name_m]Rochester[/name_m] and [name_m]Rocco[/name_m] the same way as in rock

I think it’s totally useable. NN [name_m]Rocco[/name_m] is great!

Not a fan of it as a first name. Very stuffy indeed.

I love a literary association so it definitely works for me - although [name_m]Rochester[/name_m] was a pretty flawed character - but that doesn’t seem to have put people off Heathcliffe!

But tbh if you haven’t read [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Eyre[/name_f] or don’t have any literary interest I don’t think I’d use it, most people would make that connection and ask about it, and I can imagine that could get pretty annoying if it’s not why you chose it.

Going to go against the majority here and say I don’t like it as a first name. Too surname-y for me.

I like it, it is very surnamey like [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] & [name_m]Rockwell[/name_m] & [name_m]Wells[/name_m]. I’ll be honest though my first connection with it is [name_m]Rochester[/name_m], [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m], but I guess it would depend on where you live.

I’m usually not a place names person, but I think [name_m]Rochester[/name_m] has a dignified but approachable vibe to it. I like it.

I didn’t think I would like it at first, but here I am, getting more and more attached to it! And I agree with you, it would sound so cute on a little boy, and cool on a grown man. And I really like [name_m]Rocco[/name_m] as a nickname.

Same. I love [name_m]Rochester[/name_m]'s arc in [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Eyre[/name_f], so I’ve a penchant for it, and considered [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]Rochester[/name_m] myself, but I find it more in the GP camp because it seems SO [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Eyre[/name_f]. [name_m]Rochester[/name_m] nn [name_m]Rocco[/name_m] is pretty cool, but I think I’d say leave it in the GP camp, personally. Sorry.
